☠️☠️☠️The Never-Ending Story of Cat Dumping – Especially During Summer...💔🤬
Almost every day, I receive messages or calls asking:
➡️"Can you take my cat?"
When I ask why, the answer is usually:
➡️"I'm traveling."
Traveling? Well, welcome to the reality of rescue.
I haven't traveled in over 10 years.‼️‼️‼️
Why❓❓❓
✅Because I am responsible for over 30 retired horses, 4 donkeys, 30+ cats, a dog, 5 giant tortoises, 2 smaller tortoises, and countless stray cats and dogs outside the shelter that I try to look after as well.
⚠️Being a pet owner means making a commitment for life.⚠️
It means finding solutions when you travel. It means taking responsibility when things become inconvenient.
Sadly, too many people treat pets as disposable.🤬 As if they were old shoes, unwanted furniture, or single-use cutlery that can simply be thrown away when life gets busy.
Every cat that is abandoned leaves rescuers with another mouth to feed, another veterinary bill, another life to save.
We are exhausted.
We are heartbroken.
And yet, we keep going because the animals have no one else.
Before getting a pet, please ask yourself one question:
Are you willing to take responsibility for this animal for its entire life?
Because they deserve better than being abandoned when it's no longer convenient.
