America’s Overgrown Kitten 🇺🇸🐈🐾

The Maine C**n cat is considered to be the only longhair breed native to the United States. It is unknown how the breed truly came about. This breed probably was introduced by seamen who sailed into New England who then mated with existing native cats, and ultimately created a breed of their own.

Don’t be intimidated by their size, they are gentle giants. Super affectionate and playful. The breed is fairly active, enjoys zoomies, and some might have a tendency for being vocal. The Maine C**n's coat needs daily attention. They should be brushed to make certain that their fur does not tangle, as they have a 3 layer coat. The Maine C**n’s nutrition should be carefully controlled. This breed has a tendency to become soft or overweight if not carefully monitored.

The breed is fairly healthy, although they could face certain health issues🥼🩺 They could come across obesity, hip dysplasia, kidney issues, heart disease, stomatitis, Luxating patella, and dental problems. It is best to always stay up to date with vet checks to have a healthy and happy companion❤️
