Why is my black kitten turning into “salt and pepper”? 🖤

It can be surprising to see a black kitten suddenly develop silver or white hairs, but it’s not always a cause for concern.

This change can be linked to stress, illness, nutritional deficiencies, or temporary changes in pigment production. In some kittens, the coat returns to solid black after the first moult as new fur grows in.

If your kitten is active, eating well, and growing normally, there’s usually no need to worry. However, if the coat change is accompanied by hair loss, weight loss, or other signs of illness, a veterinary check-up is recommended.

From rescue to recovery

This little kitten was found completely alone, without a mother, in a very serious condition.
His jaw was badly infected, and he needed urgent medical help, care and time to heal.

At Zooland veterinary, he received treatment, support and the attention he deserved from the very first moment.

A funny little moment from our clinic 🤭

This sweet kitty was recently spayed, and her owner brought her in because they noticed red stains on her tongue. Of course, they were very worried and thought she might be sick.

But the answer turned out to be very simple: after her surgery, she was wearing a red recovery suit — and she had been licking it.

Luckily, there was nothing to worry about. We are always happy to help our patients and give their owners peace of mind. 🐾
