Hussain Darwish, the founder and owner of HK9, owner of a German Shepard and Saluki, was looking for a solution for his dogs when it came to finding the perfect collar.
“All the collars at that time in the market, was either made with nylon, or cloth or leather, even fake leather that all posed their own sets of problem. We know dogs, they don’t have staying clean at the top of their priority list, they love to play in the water, in the mud and roll around in the sand. More often they have already rolled around twice before we get to them to remove their fashionable collars that are not meant for the elements. I needed something that will not smell after a few dips in the ocean, will not hold sand or dirt even after few washes, something that will not have wear and tear after a while of daily wearing and also not be harmful to dogs.
My favourite this to do with my dog is running, hiking in the mountains and swimming in the ocean, buying a new collar every time they went to the sea was becoming a little too expensive to maintain. How can I have fun with my pets, keep them safe with a collar and leash on, and be budget friendly at the same time.
I came across ZETA brand that is part of Omnipet by Leather brothers while doing some research and decided to give it a try. The product is made with biothane, a material originally formulated for horses, as they also battled the same issues. The material is strong, stronger than leather, waterproof, sand proof, and will not smell after a few washes. I tried it out with my dogs, we went hiking in the mountains of Ras al Khaimah, running in the dessert and swimming in the ocean. Everything we did, we did it with the collar on and the matching leash. Every single time, the collar was back to new after a rinse. I thought to myself, why doesn’t every adventurous dog in UAE have this product. The rest is history.
