Why Do Cats Push Things off Tables?

1. It's instinct

The simple act of pushing or batting items off counters and desks plays to their predatory instincts.

2. We have reinforced this behavior

Cats are quick learners; it doesn’t take long for them to figure out that when they begin pushing a glass closer to the table’s edge, their favorite people respond and give them attention.

3. They are bored

Cats who have little stimulation in their environment may find ways to entertain themselves.

Some of the solutions to consider are,
Give your cat stuff to do that’s more fun than knocking things onto the floor. All cats need horizontal scratchers, scratching posts, and lots of toys that are more fun to box and chase than the stuff on your desk.
Throw toys and treats for them to chase. Make them work for their meals by hiding treats and food on their cat trees and in puzzle toys.

Don’t accidentally reinforce their behavior with attention when they push your knick-knacks off the table. Instead, proactively redirect their attention and give them stimulating things to do.

Journey of Adore Cat Hotel started with a lovely ginger kitten falling in the lap of our founding lady - N.
N later discovered how incredible the cats are, blown away by the purrtastic creatures, she joined local cat groups on facebook and got even more blown away by their grace, majesty and affection, but at the same time dismayed too, by the stray and dumped pet situation.
She then proceeded to adopt one kitten, then another, later bottle raised four orphaned kittens, then fostered a few more then few more and got completely enmeshed in the 'cat cult', 'feline fan-club'. Mesmerised by their personalities and charm and the fact that so many felines around her needed help prompted her to try her hand at rescuing the cats but in reality the cats ended up rescuing her.
This love and experience in handling and caring for them led to the start of Adore Pet hotel, a trustworthy- hygienic - pocket friendly place where you can leave your cats, worry free!
