🖤 MEET MORTICIA - THE BLACK CAT WHO DESERVES TO BE SEEN 🖤

Black cats are so often overlooked by adopters… and we honestly cannot understand why!

Just look at this beautiful girl. 🥹🖤

Morticia is a gorgeous little lady who has already experienced more heartbreak than she ever should have.

She was found being thrown out of the community supermarket as she desperately tried to bring her newborn baby inside to find shelter. Morticia was only a baby herself, and sadly her tiny kitten passed away.

After such a difficult start to life, Morticia deserves nothing more than a safe, loving forever home.

She is wonderfully low-maintenance, gets along with other cats, and once you meet her, you’ll quickly realise just how special she is!

And those eyes… 😍🖤

Please don’t let her black coat make you scroll past her. She is absolutely beautiful, inside and out, and she has so much love to give.

✨ Around 1.5 years old
✨ Domestic Shorthair
✨ Spayed
✨ Fully vaccinated & passport ready
✨ Microchipped & dewormed
✨ Low-maintenance & friendly with other cats

🏡 Morticia has waited long enough. Could you be the person who finally sees how beautiful she is?

💌 If you’d like to adopt this beauty please do get in touch!

✈️ We welcome international adoptions and we do our best to take care of every step. We ask for a 250 GBP adoption fee and this goes towards the total relocation cost. We share every step of the relocation for full transparency.

🖤 Please share - let’s make sure this black beauty gets the attention she deserves. 🖤

🐾 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION 🐾

🎃 PUMPKIN - OUR LITTLE SURVIVOR 🧡

Around 1.5 years ago, Pumpkin was part of our TNVMR programme, living independently in the community and doing well.

Sadly, she was found injured and missing half of her tail. She was trapped, taken for surgery and brought into foster care to recover.

And what a transformation! 🥹🧡

Pumpkin has blossomed into the most affectionate, gentle and loving little girl. She is still tiny and kitten-like, with the sweetest nature, despite everything she has been through.

She would thrive in a home with another playful cat and would also suit a family with children. 🐾

✨ Around 2 years old
✨ Arabian Mau
✨ Spayed
✨ Fully vaccinated & passport ready
✨ Microchipped & dewormed
✨ Affectionate, gentle & loving

All Pumpkin needs now is a forever family to show her just how wonderful life can be. 🧡

Could you be her happily ever after? 🥹🏡

✈️ We welcome international adoptions and are more than happy to fundraise the cost of transport. We do ask for a 250 GBP adoption fee which goes towards the total cost. We take care of the relocation and we share each step for full transparency

Please share - her forever family could be out there! 🐾🧡

Happy International Cat Day from Cats of Al Reef!

May we protect them, TNR them, feed them and love them

Thank you to those who open their homes to fosters and forevers

A home is a better place with a cat in it 😻

We all have feeding stations we take care of and we all do it a little differently

This is Laura’s routine …

Feeding stations are important as they allow for us to monitor the colonies while keeping an eye out for newbies and cases requiring urgent attention. It also prevents cats (or reduces) from begging at doorsteps or following people in desperation

We TNR because we feed. We feed because we TNR. While we have them we also vaccinate and microchip

We are proud to have such healthy cats and a well managed community cat care system in place

Sunny💫

Because in a world of pain she is a ray of sunshine looking for affection at every turn ☀️

This baby is only around 14 weeks old and was attacked by a tomcat 💔

Security kept her ‘safe’ for 3 days but that allowed for infection to kick in. What to do… she’s alive and that’s the most important thing.

Bites on 3 of 4 legs and a fracture 💔 A horrendous infection in the leg with the fracture so we can’t do surgery just yet

She has a pretty serious protocol as Dr AJ wants to do all he can to save her leg. Daily antibiotic injections and lots of TLC

Dr AJ doesn’t believe in euthanasia when money is the main obstacle so we move … and this wee girl won the lottery because her journey ensures she goes into the adoption circuit now

For now she’s on heavy pain meds, antibiotics and daily wound care … but this is not a case we have funds for at all. Capacity? That was gone a long time ago but we will do what we can and give her the best chance

If you’d like to contribute towards her costs, please reach out to us or contact BVC directly 🙏🏼

Meet Splodge💫

This poor fella is going through it 💔

We were first alerted to a black and white cat who was walking like he had been seriously injured back last year … suspected either a trauma from a car or the very large orange (dumped) boy dominating that colony

We tried for weeks and had no success and recently a very kind resident reached out to ask if they could sponsor his TNR before she leaves the country but also if we could get his hips checked - could this have been the same cat we tried to catch last year?? Possibly!!

The only man for the job was Dr AJ at BVC and so off we went … how this poor boy is coping is beyond us 💔

He has had 2 broken hips. One has healed and will be ok but the other needs intervention and space has been made to perform surgery tomorrow.

We have been quiet on socials because we are drowning. We say this constantly but it’s never been this bad - and we have more updates of cases to post 😭

We try our best to never euthanase if an animal can be saved but Dr AJ really won’t even consider it and so while we are thankful this little boy will get help we are terrified for what this means re: fundraising

If you can donate even the price of a coffee towards his care, please reach out to us or contact British Vet direct. He is under and currently hospitalized at Marina Branch

Let’s hope his days of walking around in agony are over 🙏🏼

We are desperate now!

This weekend we will be putting cats into cages for 4-6 weeks while our foster families travel 💔

All we are asking is a spare bathroom. We are willing to provide everything necessary to keep these cages empty

If you can help for the month of July please reach out to us ASAP 🙏🏼

Bud (previously known as Snotty) 🌈

This is a tough one. We don’t ever find it easy to announce a cats passing but when it’s a long timer who’s always been an absolute sweetheart it’s even more difficult 💔

Bud was scheduled for euthanasia around 2 years ago due to a horrendous inner ear issue. It took a long time to clear but thankfully it did… he turned a corner but was always congested on and off giving him his name

A kind resident, who loved this boy, was responsible for the name change. When he was poorly a couple of years ago her little boy said he’s too sweet to die with such an ugly name .. so Bud he became💫

He was a regular at everyone’s doorstep (and on dog walks) and all he wanted was affection. Sadly he began to deteriorate VERY fast over the last few weeks and what was initially just suspected as weight loss and a bad cold turned out to be far worse

Bud was scheduled for a vet appointment Thursday this week and he was taken inside for some TLC knowing he may not be coming home. He was eating and drinking and using his litter box … he was loving affection. At no point did anyone think it was an emergency

Sadly on Thursday morning Bud was found in his cosy bed having passed before his appointment could take place

We are so so grateful that he did not die on the street. But we are so sorry we couldn’t be with him when he left us.

He was a true gentleman of a cat. Respectful of baby cats and no interest in fighting. Everyone was his friend and he just wanted to be loved

We did love you little guy and we still do. Rest easy. We hope you’re able to breathe clearly and eat ALLLLL the dreamies 💔
