You can take the girl out of the nursing team… but you can’t take the nurse out of the girl! ❤️

Here’s our Practice Coordinator, Sarah, working her magic with a very special patient, Jack. 🥹

Jack is a much-loved patient of ours who had been struggling with inappetence (a loss of appetite), so much so that he needed a feeding tube to ensure he received the nutrition he needed.

But while feeding tubes are incredibly valuable, what we really want is to see our patients feeling well enough to start eating on their own again.

And believe it or not, there’s a real art (and science!) to encouraging that first bite. Knowing when to try, what to offer, how to offer it, and most importantly, recognising when a patient is ready.

One morning last week the team had a feeling that Sarah might just have the magic touch Jack needed.

And they were right! ❤️

Sometimes it’s the food, sometimes it’s the timing, and sometimes it’s simply the right person offering it.

Not long after this lovely moment, Jack was well enough to head home to his very devoted owner, which made us all incredibly happy.

❤️The heart. The soul. The backbone of our clinic.

This Veterinary Nurses Appreciation Week, we celebrate a truly extraordinary group of people. ❤️

Every one of our nurses brings something special. Their own strengths, their own expertise, and their own beautiful ways of making life better for the animals in our care.

Some will sit beside your pet for hours, just so they don’t feel alone.

Some will remember the tiniest details that make your pet feel safe.

Some will still be thinking about your pet months after they’ve gone home.

Some will quietly take care of the messiest, hardest moments, ensuring every animal is treated with comfort and dignity.

They’re there for the victories, the emergencies, the heartbreak and the goodbyes. They celebrate, worry, laugh, cry, and come back the next day ready to give their hearts all over again.

Our nurses are the people everybody depends on. And one of the greatest compliments we hear from vets who have worked with us is that this is the best nursing team they’ve ever worked alongside.

Because beyond the incredible clinical skills and knowledge, there’s something else that makes this team so special.

There is a whole lot of soul in this nursing team. ❤️

To our wonderful nurses, we see you. The hard work, the compassion, the dedication, the laughter, the tears and all the little things nobody else sees.

Happy Veterinary Nurses Appreciation Week to our absolute superstars! ❤️

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Fadwa! 🎂💛

Fadwa joined our reception team back in February, and it honestly feels like she’s been part of the GVC family for so much longer!

Warm, bubbly and always ready with a smile, she brings such lovely energy to our front desk — while somehow remaining super calm and collected even when things get a little crazy!

Reception is one of the busiest places in any veterinary clinic, and Fadwa handles it all with kindness, patience and a wonderfully positive attitude. We feel very lucky to have her as part of our team. 🥰

Please join us in wishing our lovely Fadwa the happiest of birthdays! We hope your day is as bright and cheerful as you are! 🎈

Happy Birthday, Fadwa! 💛🐾

💛 Meet Susanna — and the perfect way to start Veterinary Nurse Appreciation Week!

Susanna joined the German Veterinary Clinic team just about a month ago, and we already feel very lucky to have her with us.

A newly qualified veterinary graduate from Italy, we’ve actually known Susanna for a little while. When an opportunity came up to join our nursing team, it turned out to be a pretty perfect match — she was excited for the chance to learn, get hands-on experience and work alongside our vets, and we were excited to have someone with her skills, enthusiasm and curiosity join the team.

Susanna has a very bright future ahead of her as a veterinary surgeon, but for now, we’re thrilled to have her learning, working and growing with us as part of our nursing team.

Because that’s one of the best things about veterinary medicine — we’re always learning from each other, whatever our role or where we are in our careers.

And Susanna? She’s awesome. 💛

Welcome to the team, Susanna — we’re very happy you’re here! 🐾

October 2nd is a pretty huge day here at GVC. 🥹

Today, we’re celebrating three very special milestones — and somehow, they all landed on the same day!

🎉 12 years of Cat Friendly Gold Standard
On October 2nd, 2014, GVC became the first Cat Friendly Clinic in the Middle East/MENA region to achieve the ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic Gold Standard.

And 12 years later, we are incredibly proud to say that we have never had a lapse in our certification.

What started as a vision for how veterinary care for cats could be has grown into something that is woven into everything we do. Twelve years, countless cats, countless changes and an enormous amount of learning — and we’re still just as passionate about getting it right for cats. 🐱💛

❤️ 15 years of Janet!
Today also marks the 15th work anniversary of our wonderful Janet, who is such a special part of the GVC family.

Janet is part of our Pet Care Assistant & Housekeeping team, and if you’ve ever met her, you’ll know exactly what we mean when we say she brings joy wherever she goes.

She makes us smile, works incredibly hard, and takes such wonderful care of the kitties staying with us in boarding. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without her!

🎂 And finally… HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMIR!

Amir has been part of GVC since the very beginning and is our longest-standing team member.

Our relocations assistant, PRO, problem-solver, helper-of-all-things and, quite simply, one of the hardest-working and most loved people in the clinic.

Today is his day — and we hope he feels just how much he means to all of us. ❤️

12 years. 15 years. One birthday.
What a day to celebrate. 🥂🐾

Happy October 2nd from all of us at GVC! 💕

🎓 A big congratulations to Sarah!

Our Practice Coordinator, Sarah, has just completed her Level 5 Award in Veterinary Leadership & Management with the VMG - Veterinary Management Group, adding another fantastic qualification to an already impressive veterinary career.

With years of Head Nurse experience behind her, Sarah already knows our clinic, our team and the realities of keeping a busy veterinary practice running smoothly. Now she’s added the formal management and leadership knowledge to match it.

From nursing to leadership, organisation, problem-solving and everything in between… we have a feeling there isn’t much Sarah won’t be able to manage soon! 😉

Well done! 🎉

Pain Awareness Month - a gift from us!
Could your pet be living with pain — and you just don’t know it?

September is Pain Awareness Month, and yes… we know we’ve left this until the very end! 🙈

But we didn’t want the month to finish without doing something meaningful about something we see far too often: pets living with pain that hasn’t been recognised.

In pets, pain can be incredibly subtle. Around 90% of cats for example over 12 show signs of osteoarthritis on X-rays, but many owners simply notice that their cat is sleeping more, jumping less, becoming quieter or a little grumpier — and think:

“Well, they’re getting older.”

But getting older shouldn’t mean living in pain.

The same goes for dogs. Stiffness, difficulty getting up, reluctance to jump or climb stairs, slowing down on walks, changes in behaviour or simply seeming “not quite themselves” can all be signs that something hurts.

And because we are a Zero Pain Philosophy clinic, this is something we care deeply about.

So we’re doing something a little special. ❤️

For this TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY ONLY, we are offering FREE PAIN ASSESSMENT CONSULTATIONS with:

Dr Sergio — Certificate holder in Neurology & Neurosurgery

Dr Helen — Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, with a particular soft spot for our geriatric patients

During your consultation, you can:

Talk through anything you’ve noticed at home
Ask questions about pain and ageing
Have your pet physically assessed
Discuss whether pain could be contributing to changes you’re seeing
Explore options for keeping them comfortable

There is no charge and no obligation to proceed with treatment.

Sometimes the first step is simply asking:

“Could my pet be in pain?”

If you’ve been wondering, come and let us take a closer look.

10 years of bringing families back together 💛

Last Friday marked a very special milestone for our Joanna — 10 years with German Veterinary Clinic!

We had to wait until she was back from leave to properly celebrate her, but today we’re making sure this incredible milestone gets the recognition it deserves.

For a decade, Joanna has been helping pets make their way safely around the world — and, most importantly, helping reunite them with the people who love them. ✈️🐾

Anyone who has worked with Joanna will tell you the same thing: she is incredibly passionate, dedicated, and completely invested in every journey she manages.

And clearly, our clients feel the same. We’ve even had owners arrange for their pets to take a longer route, specifically so they could travel through Abu Dhabi and have Joanna look after their journey. ❤️

10 years, countless journeys, and an awful lot of very happy reunions.

Thank you, Joanna, for everything you do — and congratulations on an incredible 10 years with GVC! 🥂🐾

Here’s to many more reunions to come.
