Having some fun at home, popping the pony over some poles 😍

This youngster is everything a superb Nooitie should be.
Brave, willing, and she gives her whole heart to every single task.

You can see the 75yrs of careful, selective breeding in every stride she takes.

She’s the complete all rounder, with beautiful movement, correct confirmation, a level head, and a work ethic that makes her an absolute joy to work with. She genuinely loves being with her people and she absolutely rockets over jumps!

She’s been started slowly and correctly, with a strong focus on building the right foundations, setting her up for a long and successful future.

Don’t the ponies look absolutely gorgeous in their new hand-made natural rope halters! 💙

Lovingly hand-tied and stitched by the talented Inamarie Kamphuis, these halters are as functional as they are beautiful. I’ve always loved rope halters — the thinner diameter of the rope and carefully positioned knots create precise pressure points on the horse’s head. This allows the handler to communicate through subtle cues, helping the horse learn to yield to the lightest touch and encouraging true softness and responsiveness.

Consistency.

If you’ve known me for more than five minutes, you’ll know I’m besotted with the Nooitgedachters. 🐴
Those who’ve known me longer ask — after 30 odd years of working with horses of every breed, colour, and temperament — why this sudden obsession with this particular breed?

Well, over the years I’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly exceptional horses. One of the most epic I ever owned was a Saddlebred–Boerperd cross — a legend.
But here’s the truth I’ve learnt: in most breeds, you’ll find that once-in-a-lifetime horse… then go back for another from the same line, and the same magic’s just not quite there.

That’s what makes the Nooitgedachter unique.
After 80 years of incredibly strict breeding standards and minimal outside influence, this breed isn’t just occasionally brilliant — it’s consistently so.
You’ll buy one and think, “This is the best horse I’ve ever owned.” Then buy another… and it’s just as epic. Then another…

They’re not the exception — they’re the standard.
And honestly? I’m done gambling my money and hoping a horse turns out right and my kids will be safe with it.

I’ve spent years working with many different horses and across different breeds. And this — right here — is why I’m so passionate about the Nooitgedachter. 💚

Most horses take years before you’d ever trust them with a child.
But Hollyhocks Acaia — just 3 years old and still in the process of being backed — is already gentle enough for my 7-year-old to ride, while bold and athletic enough to grow into a champion. 🐴✨

Our gorgeous boytjie, Hollyhock's Aspen, has started his training and is going to be heading to Johannesburg soon to finish up and then hopefully find a human that he can call his very own.

What I can tell you, is that whoever ends up with this exceptional gelding is really going to have something very special indeed 😍🐎
He's the epitome of everything a Nooitgedachter stands for. So very proud of this one.
