Spring's a beautiful time of year when the natural world comes back to life... unfortunately, it also means those dreaded little critters, ticks, fleas and worms, begin to hatch 🙀
Aside of the unpleasantness of having your beloved pet and household infested with parasites, it's the disease they carry that are the the real threat. From allergic reactions to infections to Babesiosis and Ehrichiosis (which can be deadly to both cats and dogs), prevention is the best strategy to keep your best friend in top form.
Our specialist veterinarian and founder, Dr Shuttleworth advises:
"You need to protect your pets from ticks and fleas year round but it's important to be particularly aware in in the warmer months when they are even more prevalent. There are many products available, and it is ideal to rotate products to prevent resistance.
It's also a good idea to do a de-worming after your tick and flea treatment to ensure your pets are parasite free. I recommend that in spring, when the larvae are active and hatching, that pets are dewormed twice with a 2-week interval, to ensure that newly hatched larvae are also caught after the first treatment"
