✨Dog Behaviour & Body Language: What They’re Really Telling Us✨
Dogs are constantly communicating - long before they ever bark, growl, or snap.
Most “unexpected” behaviour isn’t sudden…
We just missed the early signals.
Learning body language helps us understand when a dog is feeling calm, anxious, overwhelmed, or overstimulated.
🐾 Stress vs Relaxed Signals
A relaxed dog shows:
• loose posture, soft eyes, gentle movement
A stressed dog may show:
• lip licking, yawning, whale eye
• tucked tail, freezing, avoidance
Stress is often subtle.
⚡ Anxious vs Overstimulated
Anxious dogs may seem fearful or withdrawn.
Overstimulated dogs may look “hyper” - jumping, barking, unable to settle.
Both need calm, space, and support - not punishment.
🐕 Tail Wagging Isn’t Always Happiness
Tail wagging can also mean nervousness or high alertness.
Always look at the whole body, not just the tail.
🚨 Warning Signs Before a Growl or Snap
Dogs often show:
• stiffening, freezing
• hard staring, pinned ears
• moving away, lip curling
A growl is communication, not “bad behaviour.”
🤍 The more we understand dogs, the safer and calmer they become.
