Motivated by the welfare of the dogs while competing in dangerous sports like agility, dry-land sledding and working trials, I began learning about canine conditioning in 2016. The more I learned, the more I realised that every dog, no matter what age, fitness level or activities they participate in, should be doing therapeutic exercises. In January 2018, I started teaching classes at McKaynine Honeydew. Thanks to K9Yoga, I’ve seen phenomenal progress in dogs with various physical and mental challenges! All of my success in dog agility is due to canine conditioning, and my retired dogs also live happy, comfortable, active lives thanks to their exercises. I want every dog owner to share this success! McKaynine Randpark Ridge brings K9Yoga to more dogs, even those who cannot attend lessons in person due to behavioural issues or travel distance. I offer the following:
- ‘Prehab’, for healthy dogs who’s owners want to train the behaviours they may need one day in the event of an injury.
- Assistance with physio-prescribed rehabilitation exercise programmes following diagnosis of imbalances, illness and injuries.
- Maintenance programmes for dogs who have recovered from illness or injuries.
- Sport Specific exercise programmes to enhance performance and improve safety of the sport. For example, programmes to improve specific aspects of:
> Competitive Obedience, like straighter sits and downs, more reliable stays, more energetic and precise heal work.
> Breed Shows, like building muscle mass or improving gait.
> Agility, like Weave Pole programmes, Dogwalk workshops, Jump courses to improve jump efficiency and reduce knocked bars.
> Flyball, like box turn safety and power.
- Doggy Zen programmes for hyperactive or nervous dogs who battle with focus, stimulus control or being touched.
- Fun, for owners who want a safe and enjoyable bonding activity with their pets. I also LOVE teaching and competing in dog agility!
