Did you know picking up your dog's p**p on trails is about more than just good manners? 🐾💩

Dog waste introduces bacteria and parasites into ecosystems not built to handle them. If your dog is on flea and tick medication like NexGard or Bravecto, there's an extra layer to this.

A study published in early 2026 found that these medications are excreted through your dog's p**p and can persist in soil and water, putting dung-feeding insects at risk. The same insects that keep our ecosystems healthy.

The science is still developing, so don't change your dog's medication without speaking to your vet first. But it is a very good reason to always bag it and bin it on the trail.

Did you know you need a permit to walk your dog in Table Mountain National Park? 🐾

The South African National Parks My Activity permit (Level 1) covers dog walking across TMNP. Think Silvermine, Tokai, Oudekraal and Cape Point. It covers up to two dogs, and rangers do occasionally spot check, so it's not worth skipping.

Get it online at sanparks.org before your next adventure. You don't have to have a physical copy of the permit, the digital version can be scanned on your phone.

Two months of WozaPaws, and the pack is growing! 🐾

We hit the 100+ member milestone. Even more reviews than that. 61 good dogs officially captured.

We started WozaPaws because we believed South African dog lovers deserved a better way to find adventures with their dogs. Seeing this community come to life has made every bit of after-hours grinding worth it. ❤️
