The biggest hunting mistake my dad never told me about had nothing to do with shooting.
It had everything to do with rushing.
I remember my first hunt.
My heart was pounding.
Every movement felt too slow.
Every second felt too long.
I wanted the moment to happen.
My dad simply whispered:
"Slow down. The bush doesn't rush."
I didn't understand it then.
I do now.

Some of the greatest lessons hunting teaches us have nothing to do with trophies.
