We collect items you no longer need and sell them through our Declutter for Dogs initiative.

Clothes, books, furniture, household items, kitchenware, bedding, decorations and so much more!

Yes, even your rubbish can help rescue dogs!

We collect empty cooldrink cans, b**r cans, food tins, dog food tins and other recyclable metal cans.

Instead of throwing them in the bin, save them for us! We take them in for recycling and turn them into funds for our rescue.

Imagine how much we could collect if every household saved just a few tins!

🚨 OFFICIAL PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM JACKS RESCUE.

After careful consideration, we at Jacks Rescue feel it is time to issue a formal apology.

We have received no complaints, but we believe it's only fair to take responsibility for the chaos we have unleashed upon innocent households.

Firstly, we would like to apologise to the furniture industry.

Apparently, expensive couches are now being used exclusively by dogs, while their owners sit on the floor.

To the gardening community...

We sincerely apologise for the mysterious holes appearing in perfectly maintained lawns. Our dogs insist they are conducting important underground research.

To the manufacturers of shoes and slippers...

We acknowledge the unexplained disappearances and unfortunate chewing incidents. Investigations are ongoing. No suspects are cooperating.

To the people who proudly announced, "MY DOG WILL NEVER SLEEP IN MY BED!"

We apologise for the loss of your pillows, blankets and approximately 80% of your mattress.

To the husbands who said, "WE ARE NOT GETTING ANOTHER DOG!"

We are particularly sorry that you are now the ones carrying those dogs around like babies.

And finally, to everyone who adopted a dog from Jacks Rescue thinking they were simply bringing home a pet...

We apologise for the unexpected side effects.

The ridiculous conversations.

The hundreds of photographs.

The inability to go to the bathroom alone.

The constant worrying about someone who eats grass and occasionally barks at absolutely nothing.

And the strange discovery that your entire world can revolve around four paws and a wagging tail.

HOWEVER...

There is one thing we absolutely refuse to apologise for.

❤️ Introducing people to dogs they never knew they needed, and watching those dogs become family.

We regret to inform you that Jacks Rescue will continue causing this kind of trouble.

NO FURTHER APOLOGIES WILL BE ISSUED. 🐾

🐾 THE DOGS WHO WERE NEVER CHOSEN.

Based on thousands of true stories across South Africa.

They don't have fancy names for their breeds.

They don't come with pedigree certificates.

They aren't the dogs people put on their wish lists.

They're the Africanis. The mixed breeds. The ordinary brown dogs.

The dogs who are always there, but somehow never seen.

"I'm looking for a Jack Russell."

"Do you have any Yorkies?"

"I've always wanted a Labrador."

"Anything small and fluffy?"

And somewhere in the background, an Africanis waits.

Not because they have nothing to offer.

But because nobody came looking for a dog like them.

Days become weeks. Weeks become months.

Puppies come and go. Purebreds find homes.

But the ordinary dogs remain.

The ones with short coats, long legs, big ears and beautiful brown eyes.

The ones who are passed over before anyone even asks about their personalities.

They weren't too old. They weren't too difficult. They weren't asking for too much.

They simply weren't the breed someone wanted.

And that is one of the saddest realities of rescue.

Some dogs spend years waiting, not because they are unlovable, but because they don't fit someone's picture of the perfect dog.

They don't understand breeds or pedigrees.

They don't know that being an Africanis or a mixed breed can mean being overlooked.

They only know that people come.

People look.

People leave.

And they stay.

But behind every ordinary-looking rescue dog is an individual waiting to be discovered.

A personality. A character. A loyal companion.

Maybe the perfect dog isn't the one you've always pictured.

Maybe it's the one you've walked past a hundred times.

The Africanis. The mixed breed. The ordinary brown dog.

The dogs who were never chosen.

Not because they weren't good enough.

But because nobody looked long enough to see just how special they could be.

🐾 THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT A DOG.

No, really. This one is about YOU.

Before you scroll past, we want to ask you something.

Have you ever looked at a rescue post and thought, "Oh, that poor dog. I hope someone helps."

And then carried on scrolling?

Of course you have. Most of us have.

But here's something worth thinking about.

Who exactly is "someone"?

Is it the person who has more money than you?

The person with a bigger house?

The person who has more time?

The person who doesn't already have enough problems of their own?

We have created this wonderful imaginary person called SOMEONE.

Someone will adopt.

Someone will donate.

Someone will foster.

Someone will step in.

Someone will make a difference.

And somewhere along the way, we have forgotten something.

Someone isn't a person. Someone is an excuse we sometimes hide behind.

Now, before you think we're pointing fingers, we're not asking you to adopt ten dogs, empty your bank account or turn your home into a shelter.

Sometimes making a difference is as simple as sharing a post, donating an old blanket, telling a friend about a dog looking for a home or offering an hour of your time.

Small things matter.

But here's the question we really want to leave you with today.

What if everyone is waiting for someone, and someone is waiting for you?

Well, well, well… who knew that STICKERS would become such serious business?! 😂

In just ONE DAY, we've had a crash course in the wonderful world of Checkers stickers!

Apparently, there are GLOW-IN-THE-DARK stickers, GLITTER stickers, SPARKLE stickers and a whole lot more! 🌟✨

We have an exciting little fundraising idea, and we would LOVE our amazing followers to be part of it! 🥰

At Jack's Rescue, we are always exploring new ways to raise extra funds for our kennels, and we thought, why not turn something we normally throw away into something that can make a difference?

🐾❤️ BREAKING NEWS: LOCAL DOG REFUSES TO BELIEVE HE'S RESCUED! 📰🐕

JACKS RESCUE EXCLUSIVE REPORT

In a shocking turn of events, a former rescue dog has officially announced that he is no longer a rescue dog.

According to reliable sources (his human), he now identifies as THE OWNER OF THE HOUSE. 👑

Reports confirm that the dog has:

🐾 Taken complete ownership of the couch.

🐾 Convinced his family that a king-size bed is actually a dog bed.

🐾 Trained his humans to provide snacks on demand.

🐾 Developed selective hearing whenever the words "get off" are mentioned.

🐾💌 DEAR HUMAN, REMEMBER ME?

Dear Human,

It's me.

I don't know if you ever think about me anymore.

But sometimes, I still think about you.

I remember the sound of your voice. The way your footsteps sounded. The smell of the place I once called home.

I don't know what I did wrong.

Was I too noisy? Did I grow too big? Did I become too old? Or did you simply stop wanting me?

I wish I could have asked you.

Because if I had done something wrong, I would have tried harder.

I would have barked less. I would have been more patient. I would have tried to be the dog you wanted.

But you never told me how.

You just left.

And for a while, I thought every person who walked past was coming to take me home.

I kept looking.

I kept hoping.

Until one day, I stopped.

But here's something I want you to know.

I still wag my tail.

I still get excited about breakfast.

I still love a gentle hand and a kind voice.

And somehow, after everything, I still believe humans can be good.

Maybe one day someone will choose me and never change their mind.

Maybe I'll have a bed that stays mine, a family that grows old with me, and a human who understands that I'm not perfect.

Just loyal.

And if you ever wonder whether I remember you…

I do.

Because you were my whole world.
