RESCUE OPERATION #2 ā ANOTHER LIFE SAVED
It was a wet and bitterly cold Sunday morning when we received a call about a missing Weimaraner that had disappeared after a walk on the farm.
We responded immediately and began systematically searching the area, looking for signs of unwanted movement that could lead us to snares or other dangers.
During our sweep, we located five areas where animals had previously been caught ā including evidence involving two porcupines, a duiker and what appeared to be a wild cat species.
We made absolutely sure the missing dog was not caught in the immediate area before widening our search towards the neighbouring farms.
Despite hours of searching, we could not locate the dog.
Then today, after completing the rescue of the Boerboel, we returned to our office.
We had literally just pulled up at the gate when another call came through.
A dog had been heard in distress ā and there was a possibility it could be the missing Weimaraner.
We didn't hesitate.
We raced back to the area and met with the owners. We discussed what had happened and worked out the best way forward to locate the animal.
A team of people was already searching the farm across the road.
After approximately an hour, the call came through:
THE DOG HAD BEEN FOUND! š¾ā¤ļø
One of the team members had located the Weimaraner and requested assistance with retrieving the animal.
What followed was an incredible team effort.
Everyone played their part, working together to get the dog safely recovered.
The Weimaraner was immediately transported to a veterinarian for assessment and treatment.
ā¤ļø Two rescue operations. Two missing dogs. Two successful outcomes.
Today was a reminder that sometimes it takes an entire community coming together to bring an animal home.
To every person who searched, tracked, assisted, made calls, helped with the recovery and refused to give up:
THANK YOU.
This was an amazing recovery made possible through teamwork.
Much respect to everyone involved.
