I completed my dog behaviourist/trainer course on 7 August. I ain't gonna lie - working and studying was tough. It was a long hard 3 months juggling work plus weekly assignments, projects and practical lessons. But what a comprehensive course, covering canine behaviour, how dogs learn and obedience training. Final practical videos have been submitted for assessment and now I await the results. Here is one on teaching a dog to lie down with the very exuberant Oliver. 🙃

Farewell to Rixc - one of my previous pet sit doggies. He lived a long life and his time had come. A true Yorkie in his day - fiesty and ready to take on anything and anyone! Even charging the animals on National Geographic. 🙂

After 13 years of pet sitting, I am taking the step to branch out into dog training. I've started a course on dog behaviour/training. This decision was prompted by two things.

First, having encountered behavioural issues with many dogs over the years, with owners either unaware there is a problem, are the ones causing the problem or who simply dont know how to fix the problem.

Second, my primary role as content writer is under threat by AI and its time to consider an alternative path outside the digital space. Dog trainer/behaviourist was an obvious choice, a natural progression from the pet sitter role and something I considered long before AI gave me the 'push' I needed.

The next three months are going to be heavy - juggling work, pet sitting, studies and ... daily life. It is exciting yet somewhat daunting as I once again make a career pivot. But I feel confident its the right move.
