Who’s qualifying. Who’s winning. Who’s buying the fancy horse. Who’s progressing quicker. Who looks more polished online. Who seems to “have it all together.”

And before you know it, you’ve stopped noticing your own growth because you’re too busy measuring yourself against someone else’s chapter.

But your journey was never meant to look identical to theirs.

Maybe your win today was: 🤍 getting on despite anxiety
🤍 hacking out alone
🤍 managing your nervous system
🤍 affording the entry fee
🤍 riding the test you nearly withdrew from
🤍 showing up when life has been heavy

That matters too.

The horse world can make us feel like we’re constantly behind… but horses don’t care about status. They care about connection. Consistency. Safety. Presence.

So focus on your horse. Your ride. Your progress. Your people.

Trip down memory lane... anybody who had to know and ride one of the most special horses I have had the privilege to own... Hoffman was versatile, kind and ever willing. One of the first horses that set our journey as Tristone Stables on its path. 🐴💫🌟

Tomorrow the calendar turns a page and we step into the Year of the Fire Horse 🔥🐴

In the Chinese zodiac, the Horse is movement. Independence. Strong legs and stronger opinions. Add Fire to that and you get energy that does not sit politely in the corner. It runs. It questions. It refuses to shrink.

The Fire Horse year is traditionally associated with passion, bold decisions, and a slightly rebellious streak. It is the archetype of the mare who will not tolerate a poorly fitting saddle or a half-hearted handler. She will move her feet. She will test the fence. She will show you exactly where you stand.

Now, before anyone panics, this is not about chaos. It is about direction. Fire without purpose burns. Fire with intention forges.

So what does a Fire Horse year ask of us?

It asks: Where have you been playing small? Where have you been compliant when your instincts were nudging you sideways? Where have you been saying “it’s fine” when it really is not?

So tomorrow, maybe do this: Stand somewhere quiet. Feel your feet on the ground. Ask yourself what you would do this year if you trusted your own strength.
