As someone who spends every day caring for special-needs rescue bulldogs, this hits me deep in my heart. ❤️🐾

On October 9, 2025, Governor Newsom signed AB 519, AB 506, and SB 312 — new laws meant to crack down on the puppy-mill pipeline in California. And honestly… these changes are long overdue.

Most people don’t realize it, but the majority of dogs who end up in rescue actually start with breeders — backyard breeders, commercial breeders, and puppy mills. By the time they reach us, so many of them are scared, hurting, sick, or struggling because someone decided profit mattered more than their lives.

Every single bulldog in my home right now is living proof of that.
Mandy… Harley… Emmy… Mac…
None of them ended up here by accident.
They ended up here because somewhere along the line, they were failed — not given the medical care they needed, not treated with compassion, or simply discarded when their health issues became “too much.”

That is why these laws matter.
Not for politics.
Not for headlines.
But for the dogs who don’t get a choice… the dogs who suffer quietly… and the dogs who rely on rescues like Lilypads and homes like Lazy Acres Bulldogs to finally get the love, safety, and dignity they always deserved.

These changes won’t erase the pain many of them endured, but they will help prevent more animals from being pushed into the rescue system broken and afraid.

For the dogs who can’t speak for themselves — thank you to everyone who supports adoption, rescue work, ethical responsibility, and stronger protections for these precious souls. 💛🐶

🐾💛 The Bulldog Hierarchy at Lazy Acres 💛🐾

If you ever wondered how things really work around here… this picture says it all. 😂💛

At the very top of the throne sits Mandy — our tiny but mighty queen. She may only have two legs, but don’t let that fool you… Mandy will fight to the death to protect her rightful position on Mama’s hand and face. And the best part? Harley absolutely knows this. She may be bigger, stronger, and clearly the physically dominant one of the bunch, but she’s smart enough to never challenge Mandy’s crown. Some things in life just aren’t worth the smoke. 😂👑

Next is Harley, Mama’s leg-warmer and loyal second-in-command. She sticks close, keeps the peace, and respects the unspoken rules that Mandy has carved into stone.

And then there’s Emmy, our sweet foster girl. She has officially graduated to the couch, but she still keeps a safe (and very wise) distance from Queen Mandy’s zone. But don’t you dare feel bad for Emmy…
She’s the ONLY one who gets to sleep in Mama and Daddy’s bed every night.
That’s her VIP pass, and trust me — she knows she won the jackpot. 💛

This is our little Lazy Acres Bulldogs family… a house full of quirks, rules, routines, and more love than we ever imagined. And truly, we wouldn’t change a thing.

🐾💛 MEET EMMY 💛🐾

Everyone, meet Emmy — our sweet, resilient foster girl who’s currently looking for her forever home! Emmy came to Lazy Acres Bulldogs through Lilypads Rescue, and now she’s ready to find a family of her very own.

Emmy has had a bit of a journey. She came to us underweight and shy, but with lots of love and care, she’s blossomed into a sweet, affectionate, and playful bulldog. She’s gained her confidence back and is now eager to share her love with a new family.

Emmy does wonderfully with people and is learning every day. She still has a few quirks — especially when it comes to guarding her food, given her past — but with a patient and loving family, she’s sure to thrive.

If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion who’s overcome the odds and is ready to love you forever, Emmy might be your perfect match!

🐾💛 MEET MAC 💛🐾

Let’s introduce Mac — our gentle, lovable permanent foster here at Lazy Acres Bulldogs. Mac came to us through Lilypads Rescue and quickly became a beloved member of our family.

Mac has always had a gentle spirit and a calm demeanor, but he’s also a bit of a lone wolf when it comes to other animals. Because of that, he’s become a permanent foster with us — a forever part of Lazy Acres, where he can enjoy his peace and quiet. He’s the kind of dog who just wants a comfy bed, a quiet corner, and a human who understands him — and that’s exactly what we’re here to give.

Mac is a reminder that sometimes, being a forever foster is the best way to give a dog the happiest life. He’s found his safe haven with us, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

🐾💛 MEET MANDY 💛🐾

Everyone, say hello to Mandy — one of the most extraordinary souls at Lazy Acres Bulldogs.

Mandy’s story begins with Lilypads Rescue, where she arrived after being found with no known background, no history, and no one to speak for her. What we did know from the moment she came into our care was this: Mandy had survived more than any dog ever should.

She was afraid of everything. Sudden movements, footsteps, even gentle sounds made her flatten herself to the ground as if she expected to be hurt. It was heartbreaking to see, but it also made us even more determined to show her what safety and love truly feel like. Over time, as she realized she was finally somewhere she could trust, the fear slowly began to fade.

Mandy came to Lazy Acres as a foster — and she was unlike any foster before her. She bonded deeply with us, and we with her. The day she left for an adopter, our hearts broke. So when Lilypads called weeks later saying she needed to be returned, we knew immediately: Mandy was never leaving us again. She came back home, and we officially adopted her the moment she walked through the door.

Mandy also lives with spina bifida, which caused painful complications with her back legs. After careful evaluation with her vet, we made the compassionate decision to amputate her rear legs to give her a pain-free life. The transformation was immediate — her pain eased, her personality blossomed, and she hasn’t shown an ounce of aggression since.

Today, Mandy is the quiet leader of our home — the heart of Lazy Acres Bulldogs. She may only have two legs, but she has more strength, spirit, and resilience than most creatures on this earth.

🐾💛 MEET HARLEY 💛🐾

Say hello to Harley — the bold, beautiful bulldog who completely stole our hearts here at Lazy Acres Bulldogs. Harley originally came to us as a tiny foster pup through Lilypads Rescue. The plan was simply to help her get started on the right path… but Harley had other plans.

From the moment she arrived, Harley’s personality filled the house. Confident, curious, a little sassy, and always exploring — she naturally stepped into the role of “big sister.” Even as a baby, she had a spark that made everyone smile without even trying.

As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, it became clear to all of us: Harley wasn’t meant to be a temporary foster. She was already home. Her goofy spirit, her bulldog stubbornness, and the rare sweet moments she gives when she truly trusts you made her impossible not to love.

So, in true foster-fail fashion, Harley officially became a forever member of Lazy Acres Bulldogs — and we absolutely adore her. Today, she’s our strong-willed, protective, hilarious girl who keeps everyone on their toes and brings so much joy to our home.
