We focus on the function of the exercise. Just like plank shoulder taps challenge our core and shoulder stability as well as straight arm strength, a three-legged stand teaches dogs the same skills:
Core engagement
Controlled weight shifting between each forelimb to build shoulder strength and stability
Common mistakes we see with 3 legged stands is the dog putting their back feet super wide to gain more stability. Using a paver like in this video to help keep their hind feet under their hips is a great way to encourage proper form to get the most from this exercise!
