☀️ Oklahoma heat is no joke, especially for our flat-faced breeds.

French Bulldogs, Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, and other brachycephalic breeds can overheat much faster than other dogs because they simply can’t cool themselves as efficiently.

A few reminders:
🐾 Limit outdoor time during the hottest part of the day.
🐾 Always provide fresh water and shade.
🐾 Never leave them in a vehicle, even for a minute.
🐾 Watch for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or bright red gums.
🐾 If your dog seems too hot, move them to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian.

Every summer we hear heartbreaking stories that could have been prevented. If it’s too hot for you, it’s probably too hot for your flat-faced friend.

🐾 Growing up way too fast! 🐾

These three handsome boys will be 9 weeks old tomorrow and are ready to start looking for their perfect couches and forever families. ❤️

They’ve been raised in our home with lots of love, attention, and daily socialization. Each has their own unique personality, but all three are sweet, playful, and full of Frenchie charm.

🌡️🐾 Frenchie Heatstroke: The Summer Danger Every Owner Should Know ☀️🚨

French Bulldogs may look tough, but when it comes to hot weather, they are one of the most vulnerable dog breeds in the world. ❤️

Because of their adorable flat faces and short muzzles, Frenchies have a much harder time cooling themselves than many other dogs. While humans sweat and most dogs pant efficiently, French Bulldogs can struggle to release excess heat, causing their body temperature to rise dangerously fast. 😟

🚦 The Frenchie Heat Danger Meter

🟢 Under 20°C (68°F)
Perfect weather for walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures.

🟡 20–24°C (68–75°F)
Use caution. Bring water, seek shade, and monitor your Frenchie closely.

🟠 24–28°C (75–82°F)
Risk begins increasing significantly. Keep exercise short and avoid direct sunlight.

🔴 28°C+ (82°F+)
Danger zone. Heatstroke can develop quickly, especially in humid conditions.

🚨 Warning Signs of Heatstroke

👅 Excessive panting
💦 Thick drooling
🔴 Bright red gums
😴 Weakness or lethargy
🤢 Vomiting
⚠️ Collapse or seizures

If you notice these symptoms, act immediately.

🧊 What To Do Right Away

✅ Move your Frenchie to a cool, shaded area
✅ Offer cool (not ice-cold) water
✅ Wet paws, belly, and chest with cool water
✅ Use a fan or air conditioning
✅ Contact a veterinarian immediately

❌ Never leave a Frenchie in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

Many owners don't realize that on a warm day, the inside of a vehicle can become deadly in a very short amount of time.

🌞 How To Prevent Heatstroke

💧 Always carry water
🌳 Walk early in the morning or after sunset
🏠 Stay indoors during peak heat
🛏️ Provide cooling mats and shaded areas
⚖️ Maintain a healthy weight
🐾 Monitor breathing carefully

French Bulldogs depend on us to recognize danger before they can.
