Does this beautiful animal belong to you? This black cat was trapped earlier this week in the Ranui Crescent area Diamond Harbour.

It is very friendly and happy enough in foster care at present but we are keen to hear from you if you think it may belong to you. It's likely a female but can't be sure at this stage.

The cat doesn't have a microchip so we cannot trace its owner if it does have one.

Please contact us if this cat belongs to you.

Tiny, beautiful and full of personality, little Miss Peaches is officially ready to find her forever home! At just 8 weeks old, this gorgeous girl is vaccinated, social, affectionate and absolutely adorable. 🐾

Peaches may be petite, but she’s packed with confidence and charm: ✨ Loves her food
✨ Bold and adventurous
✨ Uses her tiny voice to tell you all about her day
✨ Purrs A LOT and adores cuddles
✨ Socialised with other cats and a small dog
✨ Still learning how to play and be a carefree kitten

Peaches has come such a long way in foster care and is now ready for a loving family to call her own. She would suit a home that will continue building her confidence, shower her with affection, and appreciate her sweet, quirky little personality. 🩷

If you think Peaches could be the perfect new addition to your family, please get in touch to apply to adopt this precious girl. 🐱💕

Billy has been adopted

🖤 Meet Billy 🖤

When Billy was found, he was in a heartbreaking state, emaciated, terrified, hiding from humans and very close to death. His immune system was badly affected and he was simply trying to survive. But this little fighter bounced back incredibly quickly. Within just 24 hours his health had already started improving, and within 10 days he was enjoying cuddles and tummy rubs.

Thanks to the love and dedication of his foster carers, Billy has completely transformed into a happy, affectionate, energetic boy with the most wonderful personality. He loves chin scratches, endless playtime and asking for cuddles throughout the day. One of his cutest little habits is gently sniffing your nose like he’s giving you a kiss 🥹

Billy is playful, curious and full of character. He’ll happily chase anything that moves and sometimes gives gentle playful nibbles when he’s excited. He truly is one of a kind. His coat is also stunning, at first glance he looks black, but in softer light you can see beautiful tabby markings shining through his glossy fur.

Above all else though… Billy absolutely adores other cats. He follows them around the house, wanting to play and be involved in everything they do. Because of this, we feel Billy would thrive most in a home with another friendly cat companion to keep him company and continue building his confidence and happiness.

Billy has already overcome so much in his short life, and now he’s ready for the forever home he truly deserves 🖤

We urgently need your help 🐾

The last few months have stretched us further than ever before. Every week more cats and kittens are arriving into our care, abandoned, dumped, injured, hungry, frightened, or simply with nowhere else to go.

We never want to turn our backs on an animal in need, but rescue comes with a very real cost.

Food. Litter. Vet bills. Flea and worm treatment. Desexing. Emergency medical care. Formula for tiny kittens. It all adds up incredibly quickly.

We’ve now set up a Givealittle page to help keep Diamond Harbour Cat Rescue going and to ensure we can continue helping the cats who desperately need us.

Every single donation, no matter how small, truly makes a difference. Even the cost of a coffee can help feed a rescue cat for a day. 🐱

If you are able to support us, please donate here:
https://givealittle.co.nz/org/diamond-harbour-cat-rescue

If you can’t donate right now, sharing this post would mean the world to us and helps more people see our plea.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting rescue, compassion, and second chances. ❤️

April was nothing short of overwhelming for our little rescue team.

On average, at least one cat or kitten came into our care every single day. From Okains Bay to Teddington, Purau to Wainui, the need across the Peninsula has been enormous and yet, despite the pressure, the late nights, the emotional toll, and the fact that most of our ground team juggle full-time jobs alongside rescue work, we are incredibly proud to say that we did not turn a single animal away.

Not one.

That simply would not have been possible without the amazing people who stand beside us every step of the way.

To our foster carers, you are beyond incredible. You open your homes and your hearts to frightened, vulnerable animals, giving them warmth, safety, patience, and love while they begin their journey towards forever homes. What you do truly changes lives.

To every person who has adopted from us, thank you for choosing to rescue and for giving these beautiful cats and kittens the loving homes they deserve. Watching them find their people makes every difficult moment worthwhile.

To everyone involved in humane trapping and transport, thank you for heading out in all weather conditions, often going far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, to ensure these animals get the help they need. Your dedication means cats receive treatment, desexing, care, and ultimately the chance of a safer, happier future.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to the incredible Vetlife team, especially Rachael, Dionne, and Sandy — who go the extra mile (or 500!) time and time again to help us provide urgent care and support whenever it’s needed. We are endlessly grateful for your compassion and generosity.

Rescue truly takes a village, and we could not do this without every single one of you. 🖤🐾

Lovely Cleo, with her beautiful Cleopatra eyes, is looking for her special someone! Rescued from certain death by a kind-hearted trapper, Cleo was surrendered to us with her sister a couple months ago. During her time in foster care, Cleo was gently shown how wonderful it can be to be a pet. With time and patience, Cleo learned to trust. She was always the shyer sister, but very sweet 🩷 She runs to greet her foster Mum and meows for attention, but she still needs reassurance around being petted. Now that her sister has found her family, its Cleo's turn. She would suit a quiet home with someone willing to put time into helping her blossom 🌸 We know she has huge potential to be a loving companion for the right family.
Cleo is about 7 months old speyed, vaccinated, microchiped and all ready to adopt.
If you feel that she might be the right fit for you, please reach out to us 🥰

***UPDATE: On trial with her new family***🌸 Meet Miss Chi Chi 🌸

This beautiful girl came to us after being trapped in a remote area alongside her sister. Thankfully, a kind-hearted trapper chose to hand them over to us, and in doing so, gave them a second chance at life ❤️

Chi Chi and her sister needed a patient and experienced foster home to help them learn to trust humans. Thanks to one of our incredible foster mums, Chi Chi has truly blossomed and discovered just how lovely pet life can be 🥰

Her foster mum describes her as a sweet, calm little soul. While she enjoys a good play, she’s mostly very relaxed and easygoing. She absolutely LOVES her wet food, so much so that she’ll try sneak a bite from the other cats too!

Chi Chi adores the older cats in her foster home, especially her bestie Ernie, who she follows around everywhere. She would make a wonderful addition to a home looking for a gentle, affectionate companion 💕

✨ Approx. 6 months old
✨ Good with older, respectful children
✨ Vaccinated, microchipped & spayed

Chi Chi is all ready to find her forever family. If you think she could be the perfect fit for your home, please get in touch

🐾 Meet Missy 🐾

This lovely girl is looking for her forever home 💕

Missy can be a little stand-offish at first while she gets to know you, but once she feels comfortable, she is incredibly friendly and absolutely loves cuddles. She just needs a bit of patience in the beginning, and then her sweet, affectionate personality really shines through.

We believe she may be completely deaf, or at least hard of hearing. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all, but it’s something to keep in mind for her future home.

She gets along well with male cats (unsure about females) and is used to small dogs—she even tries to play with them!

If you think Missy could be the perfect fit for your home, please get in touch
