WIND ADVISORY WARNING
Please be careful at the dog park today. Winds are expected to reach up to 40mph today 11/4 starting around 11 a.m.. Similar windspeeds on Oct. 26 and Nov. 9, 2021 caused a total of 7 trees to fall and narrowly avoided injury to several park patrons.
Have asked SPR to post advisories but - in case that doesn't happen in time - be especially careful on the "Wind Alley" - middle trail from the Dome play area (SE area w/stumps) and the NOAA fence line on the North End.
This is part of the reason stewardship seized on the ecological health of our park as priority! And why SPR, with the aid of newly hired engineers and architects, is helping. 2 types of tests are currently awaiting results (chem and percolation) and we're working closely with Green Seattle Partnership and SPR to develop ways the swale will work with a proper catchment system so all will become functional, healthier and environmentally supportive. And, a good tree succession plan is already developed (for ultimately replacing both the cottonwoods and invasive white poplars).
In the meanwhile, be safe out there!!
