Spay Neuter Kingston Initiative To facilitate ways to reduce and eventually eradicate pet overpopulation. S.N.K.I.

was formed to facilitate the opening of a high-volume, spay/neuter clinic in the Kingston and surrounding area based on the self-sustaining model used by the Humane Alliance, open to all members of the public regardless of demographics or monetary income. OBJECTS:

To improve the welfare of cats and dogs in the Greater Kingston Area by:

a. promoting and supporting the establishment and operation

of a non-profit high volume spay and neuter service for dogs and cats using qualified veterinarian partners;

b. implementing education programs to make the public aware of the problem of pet overpopulation, the benefits of spaying and neutering their pets, the procedure, and the availability of the spay-neuter service;

c. assisting area animal shelters and rescue groups by providing reduced cost surgeries;

d. promoting the return of lost pets to their owners by sponsoring microchip clinics and other events designed to improve pet identification and the chance of owner and stray animal being reunited;

e. raising funds to spay and neuter the pets of low income owners, based on the provincial standards of poverty;

f. promoting and facilitating Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return programs for managed feral cat colonies through the Region, including reduced costs on surgeries.

Happy National Kitten Day! 🐱

Is there anything better than a kitten?
Tiny paws, playful pounces, loud purrs, adorable naps and endless curiosity packed into a furry little package.

Kittens have a special way of bringing joy, laughter, and love into our homes and our hearts.

Today, we are celebrating kittens and encouraging our community to consider adoption when looking to add a feline friend to the family.

Every year, countless kittens enter rescues and shelters through no fault of their own. By adopting locally, you're not only giving a kitten a loving home, but you're also helping create space and resources for other cats and kittens in need.

When you adopt from a rescue, you are making a direct difference in your community. You're supporting the volunteers, fosters, and organizations working tirelessly to reduce cat overpopulation and improve the lives of vulnerable cats.

Every adoption is a success story and another kitten given the chance to live their best life. Just like Cindy Lou, pictured here with her foster dog friend, Pearson. Cindy Lou and all of her siblings have found loving homes, and their futures are now bright, promising, and filled with endless possibilities. Stories like theirs remind us why adoption matters so much.

This National Kitten Day, celebrate by sharing photos of your feline friends, supporting local rescues, and considering adoption if you're ready to welcome a new companion into your life.

Because every kitten deserves a chance to grow up loved. 💕

This pretty lady, referred to as Tabby, has been brought in through TNVR after she showed up at a stabilized colony. Lucky for her and the quick action of the caretaker, she will not be adding kittens to this colony! Bonus for her she has shelter, water, food and someone looking after her daily 😻

TNVR works!

Today we are remembering a very special soul, our beloved Momma. 💔

Momma was one of the very first cats we stabilized in the feral colony in Bath Institute. A true senior, she carried a quiet strength, a gentle spirit, and a sweetness that touched everyone who cared for her.

Recently, Momma became ill, and as much as it breaks our hearts, we knew it was time to let her go peacefully and with dignity. It’s never easy, but it was the kindest gift we could give her.

We are so incredibly grateful that Momma had many years to live her life surrounded by care, safety, and love. She was looked after by so many compassionate people, and she was truly cherished by all who knew her. Our hearts are with everyone who loved and cared for her.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the amazing veterinary team at Cataraqui Pet Hospital . They provided exceptional care and compassion during Momma’s stay, and we are so grateful for everything they did for her.

Run free, sweet girl. 🌈
Rest in love, Momma.

We will see you again at the Rainbow Bridge. 🤍

Sometimes the best kind of healing comes with tiny paws and shared naps.

🐱🐱🐱

Now named Henry & George, formerly known as Tiny Tim & Tommy (or Thing One & Thing Two!) are settling beautifully into their new home with their big brother Triscuit.

Triscuit, our beloved SNKI alumni, sadly lost his brother Melba a few months ago and has been feeling the quiet ever since. His family knew his heart was big enough to help kittens in need, just like he once was and they were absolutely right.

In this photo, they caught the moment we’d all been waiting for: the three of them curled up together, finally comfortable, finally connected.

A true kitten pile, and one that has us crying the happiest of tears. ❤️

Seeing love, comfort, and companionship come full circle like this is why we do what we do.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year, filled with love, healing, and many cozy moments ahead

Happy Boxing Day! 🎁

How did everyone’s Christmas trees survive the festivities? 😹

Our SNKI alumni Tussle clearly had a *wonderful* time with hers! This was her very first Christmas, spent celebrating alongside her brother Indy, and it looks like the tree didn’t stand a chance.

We hope Santa Paws spoiled all your little ones and that you’re soaking up every moment of the festive season.

With love,

🎄Merry Christmas from all of us! 🎄

On the way to spread holiday cheer and maybe a little mayhem! 😹😹😹

From all of us at the rescue, we’re wishing you a very Merry Christmas filled with warm hearts, cozy homes, full bellies, and happy paws. This season, we’re hoping for less mayhem and more peace (and maybe fewer cats in the tree 😽).

Thank you for supporting rescue, fostering, adopting, and sharing the love all year long. 🙏

Merry Christmas from our furry family to yours! 🐾

With love,

Team SNKI ❤️
