Heroes behind the scenes 🤍

To our regular shelter volunteers - thank you for showing up every week, without fail. From scrubbing down the shelter and washing dog beds, to taking the time to walk, shower, rehab, and care for each rescue… you make a bigger difference than you probably realise.

And it’s more than just the time, labour and extra treats - it’s the patience, the love, and the familiarity you bring that truly brighten their day 🐾

Consistency like this is what changes lives. Thank you for being part of theirs.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Lucky’s vet bill has been fully cleared. 🎉🐾
When we first shared about Lucky’s bill, we honestly didn’t know how long it would take. But you all showed up — some of you quietly, some of you generously, all of you with so much heart. We are deeply moved and grateful beyond words.

Lucky came into our care as a dog who needed help. She fought hard, and she was loved until her very last moment. The surplus from this campaign will go directly towards the care of our remaining dogs.

🌈 In Loving Memory of Ocelot 🤍

Ocelot was rescued as a young puppy, only a few months old.
This year, he would have turned 11.

From the very beginning, Ocelot was different.
Gentle, sensitive, and deeply fearful of the world around him.

He was especially afraid of ropes and leashes —
so much so that in all his years, Ocelot was never able to go for walks.
The outside world was simply too overwhelming for him.

But in his own quiet way, Ocelot found comfort.

He watched the world from a distance…
found safety in familiar corners…
and learned to trust, little by little, on his own terms.

Every small moment — sitting calmly, resting peacefully, choosing to stay —
that was Ocelot’s version of bravery.

On 23 March, Ocelot passed on.

While his world may have been small,
he was deeply loved within it. 🤍

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his sponsors,
who stood by him through the years and gave him the care, comfort,
and dignity he deserved.

Because of you, Ocelot never went without.

🐾 Update on Lucky’s Vet Bills

Many of you may remember Lucky, who was hospitalised at Barkway Veterinary Clinic late last year.

Despite undergoing treatment and being discharged, Lucky sadly passed away shortly after. Her loss was heartbreaking for all of us, but we are grateful that she was given medical care and love in her final days.

Lucky’s treatment cost a total of $2,841.70. With the help of some kind supporters, we have managed to pay part of the bill.

At the moment, the remaining balance is $1,682.10.

Running an independent shelter means vet bills like these come directly from our limited funds. If anyone would like to contribute towards clearing Lucky’s remaining bill so we can focus our resources on caring for the other dogs currently under Forget Me Not, we would be deeply grateful.
