Tell me it’s feeding time without telling me it’s feeding time 🤣

When four dogs suddenly appear in the kitchen, all staring at you like they’ve been patiently starved for approximately 3 hours. We've got 4 faces, 4sets of eyes, 1 very clear message with no words needed.

It’s all about reading the WHOLE dog
Look at this gorgeous girl.
At first glance, you might see those teeth and think, “That dog is aggressive!”

But look again.
This isn't aggression. This is her very enthusiastic morning smile!
And this is exactly why understanding canine body language is so important.

Dogs communicate with us constantly, but they don't speak our language. A curled lip, showing teeth, a wagging tail, pinned-back ears or a wide-eyed expression can mean very different things depending on what the rest of the dog's body is telling us and what's happening around them.

A wagging tail doesn't automatically mean a happy dog.
Showing teeth doesn't automatically mean an aggressive dog.
And a dog being still doesn't automatically mean they're relaxed.

We need to look at the whole picture.
Eyes
Ears
Mouth
Tail
Body posture
Muscle tension
Movement
And, importantly, the situation they're in.

Learning to recognise these subtle signals helps us understand what our dogs are actually trying to tell us, before their communication needs to become louder.

Because when we learn to speak dog, we can build better relationships, avoid misunderstandings and help our dogs feel safer and more understood.
So next time you see a dog doing something that looks a little unusual, pause before making an assumption.

They're communicating. We just need to learn how to listen.

There’s something pretty special about waking up to your own personal fan club.

I’ve looked after two of these gorgeous faces before, but this time there are four of them. And this morning, I came downstairs to what can only be described as a full-blown welcome committee.

Four waggy tails. Four very different personalities. Four dogs who couldn’t wait to come and say good morning, check in with me and make sure I knew exactly how their night had been. It was a pretty lovely way to start the morning and I think I’ve officially been welcomed into the crew.

With four rescue dogs in one house, we couldn’t think of a better time to give you a little sneak peek at a hoodie that's coming to our collection this autumn.

Something very special is on it's way to celebrate our love of rescue dogs. We think this one might become a firm favourite 🧡🐾

Goodbyes are never truly final, but they can still give the heartstrings a little tug 🫶🏼

I’ve absolutely loved spending time with this gorgeous boy again, keeping him company in his own home and making sure he had plenty of love, cuddles and attention while his family were away.

And the best part? His lovely owners have already booked another four dates with us moving forward!
So this isn’t really goodbye, it’s just see you again soon.

We’re finding that more and more of our lovely clients are planning their holidays and trips further in advance, which is fantastic because it means their pets’ care is sorted nice and early.

And remember, you don’t have to pay for everything upfront. Our interest-free payment plans mean you can secure your dates now and spread the cost over time.

“Could you just pop in on my dog three times a day while we’re on holiday?”

This is something I’m hearing more and more, and to be honest, I get it. You’re going away, you love your dog, you want them cared for, and a few visits a day sounds like plenty.
But here’s the bit I really want people to think about. Dogs are not cats. Yes, there are dogs who are perfectly happy having a couple of visits and spending some time alone. But dogs are social animals. They thrive on companionship, connection, interaction and simply having someone around.
They don't necessarily need someone throwing a ball for eight hours a day. They might just want someone sitting beside them while they snooze. Someone to talk to. Someone to potter around the house with. Someone there when they wander into the kitchen to investigate absolutely nothing. Someone there when they wake up. Someone there when the evening settles in.

Because being cared for isn't always the same as being accompanied. This picture is a perfect example. I'm not doing anything exciting. I'm not entertaining him. I'm not even particularly interesting right now. 😂
I'm just sitting here.
And he's chosen to squash himself right up against me. That's connection. That's companionship. That's one of the reasons I do what I do.

At Barkin Vibes, I don't want your dog simply to be checked on while you're away. I want them to feel like they've still got their person, even when their person is you and you're several hundred miles away.

POV: Your humans have gone away and left you with the pet sitter. Life is unbearable. The stress is obvious. The emotional damage is immense.…Clearly 😂

Meanwhile, I'm just having a deep and meaningful conversation with my 4-legged therapist about everything that's been going on lately. He's a great listener, never interrupts, never judges and occasionally gives me a cuddle.

This is what pet sitting in their own home can look like. Happy, comfortable, relaxed and quite possibly being thoroughly spoilt.
No kennels. No unfamiliar surroundings. Just their own home, their own routines and a friend there to keep them company while their humans are away.
