"He's spoiled."

That's what some people say when they see me hand-feed River and bottle-feed his water.

What they don't see is his journey... that in his little three years of life, River has battled severe gastritis. He suffered from frequent vomiting, aspiration episodes, severe reverse sneezing, and at times even vomited blood.

We tried everything... raised bowls, slow-feeder bowls, specialty water dispensers, smaller meals, and different feeding schedules. Nothing worked.

So I stopped worrying about what looked normal and started focusing on what worked for River.

Today, every meal and every drink is given by hand and paced. He even clears his throat on command. What some call spoiling is actually dedication, love, patience, and years of learning how to help him thrive.

Today, River is about 95% better.
This isn't spoiling.
This is love. ❤️🐾

Rottweilers are not born aggressive. They are not born mean.

Like any breed, they learn from the world around them. When they are raised with love, structure, stability, and respect, they become what they were always meant to be... loyal companions, gentle protectors, and devoted family members.

Behind the reputation is a breed with an enormous heart.

These days, I choose quiet, good moments... good souls... the things that make life feel full.

Throwback Thursday… January 2026.
Cold air. Quiet streets. Long walks through Savannah’s Historic District and Forsyth Park in 26° weather… then home.
Warm sweaters, blankets, tired paws, and the kind of peace you wish you could bottle forever.
Not every beautiful memory is loud.
Some look like slowing down… curling up together… and letting the world wait.
Just Ronin, River, and me… resting where peace found us.
