(HRI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed for the charitable purposes of rescuing purebred Havanese and Havanese mixes that are homeless or soon-to-be-homeless, including those found in animal shelters or similar facilities and those relinquished by their owners. The dogs are provided with the attention, care and medical treatment necessary including spay/neutering. HRI also focuses on t

he education of the public regarding puppy mills and responsible dog ownership including spay/neutering, training and humane care of Havanese and other pets.

Havanese Rescue Inc. a nationwide, foster-home-based rescue to help Havanese dogs in need. We have foster homes from Maine to Florida and westward to Alaska and Hawaii in the United States of America. We do not have a central location or kennel.

Ticket numbers will be entered on a spreadsheet, and a random number generator will be used to select the winner.

PayPal and Facebook transactions must be completed prior to the drawing.

Mail-in entries must be postmarked by TBD.

🐾 ATTENTION HRI Friends and Followers! 🐾

There have been many Spammers and Scammers commenting on this page recently with links to a t-shirt purportedly to support our rescue.

They have also tagged individuals in the comments which then resulted in Facebook notifications to many people. We have deleted the comments as soon as they were noticed, but the Facebook notifications still were sent.

This t-shirt is using HRI's logo without our permission, and we have reported their illegal use to Facebook.

This t-shirt is NOT supporting Havanese Rescue Inc. at all, and we request that you do not click on the links.

A big concern is that whoever is promoting this may steal personal and financial information from anyone who "orders" a t-shirt.

Our fundraising is always posted on our website, so you can check there to ensure when posts or comments here are legitimate.

Tanner in NC - Available for Adoption from Havanese Rescue Inc.

• Dog Weight: 14 lbs.
• Training: House trained, Leash trained, Crate trained
• Personality Qualities: Sweet, affectionate and playful
• Special Needs: Would like a fenced yard to explore and play

Tanner is a young, energetic pup who loves to play and take long walks. Fetch is his favorite past time, but he enjoys his rope and squeaky toys, too. Soft toys don't stand a chance with him - he destroys them!

Tanner loves to explore outside and would enjoy a fenced in yard for this activity.

Once he has exhausted himself with playing Tanner will happily take a nap in his crate. He also sleeps in it overnight.

Tanner is a sweet and affectionate boy who does well with other dogs and older children, but can get overwhelmed in an overly noisy or unfamiliar environment. He takes just a bit to warm up to new people and situations.

Tanner is not a feline fan and he has not been around younger children in our presence.

This smart little boy will alert you to when he needs to go out. His new family will just have to be alert to his signs. He may scratch at the door, whine, or just bug you until you figure it out. Generally, he is good for 3-4 hours between potty breaks.

Tanner is fostered in North Carolina.

• Personality Qualities: Happy go-lucky and friendly
• Special Needs: Would prefer a single dog home and a fenced yard

Humphrey is a happy go-lucky chap. He is very friendly with the people he meets, though sometimes he can be a little shy around new men until he gets to know them. We have not seen him around children, so we are unsure how he would react with them; however, we believe he would prefer a home with adults and could be an ideal companion for a senior.

Humphrey’s happy attitude goes with him on his walks which he thoroughly enjoys along with time in a fenced backyard. He likes other dogs, but we do not know about cats.

He is crate trained, and it is open and available to him in his foster home if he feels he needs it. So far, his foster mom has not seen him use it.

Humphrey was raised as an only dog until he came into foster care. He has adjusted to sharing his toys with the other dogs and is learning that the other dogs can sleep in his nighttime bed during the day although he is still a bit skeptical about this.

Humphrey would likely prefer a home where he is the only dog again. He likes to be the center of your world, sitting with you and happily letting you groom him and love him. In exchange, he will give you lots of love, and a lot of joy as you watch this happy go-lucky chap enjoy each and every day!

Humphrey is being fostered in South Carolina.

• Special Needs: Requires a special diet due to allergies

Jax is a delightful boy with a sweet and cheerful personality who would love to share your days! Do not let his age fool you, he is full of fun and enthusiasm and is always on the ready for his next adventure. He loves attention, and although shy at first, he warms up quickly with a little patience.

Jax enjoys a few good walks along with a couple of short 'business' breaks each day. He follows well on the leash and loves to explore everything along the way. After he is a little tuckered out, his favorite place is a cozy lap where he'll politely ask for belly rubs.

He is always happy to play fetch with his toys.

Jax enjoys car rides and will usually snooze until reaching the destination.

At night, he will sleep soundly on your bed and will quietly keep you company until you wake in the morning.

Jax is house-trained and well behaved, and he knows simple commands.

He will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. He does not do well if left alone for long periods. He would do best with one person or a quiet family who wants a loyal shadow and constant companion.

Jax is used to cats but prefers they mostly ignore him because he wants to focus all of his attention on his human.

He would be happy to be the only dog but would likely be fine with other small dogs.

Jax is not used to a crate although it may be possible to train him to be comfortable in one.

He is also a bit fearful of men due to past experiences, but this could be remedied with some trust building.

Last, but not least, Jax has some food allergies which are manageable by adhering to his specific diet.

Jax is being fostered in North Carolina.

Spud in FL - Available for Adoption from Havanese Rescue Inc. - HRI

Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 18 pounds

Spud walks well on a leash, is crate-trained, and housebroken. He is reserved when meeting new people, but adjusts over time. Once comfortable, he has grown to love his foster family, both the husband and wife. He has adjusted very well.

Spud is very active. He loves his toys, other dogs, and running in a yard. He requires a strong, active family with a fenced-in yard and a companion dog. He needs to be able to burn off his energy.

He would love activities such as hiking and boating.

We are not sure how he would do with children as he has not been around any.

Spud is not a lap dog; he is most comfortable playing with toys and racing around the yard.

At 18 pounds, he may sound overweight, but he is pure muscle. He is strong and needs an owner who can handle his strength and activity levels.

We hope Spud is soon able to meet his person, who can also meet his energy needs.

Spud is currently being fostered in Florida.
