The well-bred German Shepherd Dog is stable, sensible, intelligent, quick to learn, loyal and protective of his home and property.
A breed of exceptional stamina, the German Shepherd Dog was initially bred to trot all day long. Though relatively calm and quiet indoors,
Correct gait is an essential feature of the German Shepherd Dog. When trotting, it moves with a long, effortless, efficient stride that is driven by a powerful forward thrust from the hindquarters
~ The CKC German Shepherd Standard

The ideal dog is a working animal with an incorruptible character combined with
body and gait suitable for the arduous work that constitutes its primary purpose. The German Shepherd Dog is a large, agile, muscular dog of noble character and high intelligence. Loyal, confident, courageous, and steady
~ The AKC German Shepherd Standard

The German Shepherd Dog is confident and fearless, willing to be approached, yet a certain level of aloofness towards strangers is acceptable. When working, the German Shepherd is alert and eager, adapting well to new tasks. Absolute soundness of movement is paramount. Correct gait is an essential feature of the German Shepherd Dog. When trotting, it moves with a long, effortless, efficient stride that is driven by a powerful forward thrust from the hindquarters
~The UKC German Shepherd Standard

The German Shepherd must be self assured, balanced with strong nerves and absolutely impartial behaviour, whilst maintaining a good nature - until pushed to the limit. The dog must be vibrant and easygoing. Furthermore the dog must be courageous, have a strong fighting instinct and possess firm nerves. These are essential requirements since the dog is to be used as companion, guardian, protector and a working sheepdog. The German Shepherd Dog is a trotting dog. To achieve this, the limbs must be in such balance to one another so that the hind quarter may be thrusted well forward to the mid-point of the body and have an equally long reach with the forefoot and without any noticeable change in the back line.
~The FCI/SV German Shepherd Standard

Education is key and failing to educate yourself or failing to educate your clients to push a narrative makes you an incompetent trainer and quite frankly a s**t person.

# # # E-Collar (Electronic Collar)
- **Functionality**: Typically used for training, e-collars can deliver various forms of stimulation, including vibration, sound, and sometimes a mild electrical pulse. The goal is to provide a range of feedback to help train a dog.
- **Usage**: E-collars are often employed for recall training, behavior modification, and to reinforce commands from a distance. They allow for a more controlled and gradual approach to correction.
- **Adjustability**: Many e-collars allow the trainer to adjust the intensity of the stimulation, which can help in finding the appropriate level for the individual dog.

# # # Shock Collar
- **Functionality**: Shock collars are specifically designed to deliver an electrical shock to the dog as a form of punishment or deterrent for unwanted behavior.
- **Usage**: They are typically used to discourage specific behaviors, such as barking, digging, or running away. The intent is often more about aversive correction rather than positive reinforcement.
- **Intensity**: Shock collars may not offer as much variability in stimulation levels as e-collars, and the shocks can sometimes be more intense.

# # # Key Differences
- **Purpose**: E-collars focus on training and communication, while shock collars are often used for punishment.
- **Feedback Types**: E-collars provide a range of feedback methods (vibration, sound, mild shock), whereas shock collars primarily deliver an electrical shock.
- **Training Philosophy**: E-collars are generally associated with positive reinforcement techniques, while shock collars are linked to aversive training methods.

when you have a puppy you’re not sure was born dead/alive, take a needle and poke the nose. If there’s blood, it’s alive. Hold the mouth closed and do a gentle but decent breath into the nose and lungs, then rub puppy for 10 seconds, blow into the nose again. Repeat and work for up to one hour before calling it. I saved quite a few puppies born “dead” with this method. If they have a heart beat, they can potentially be saved. Longest time I worked on one was 30 minutes. He started gasping after 3 minutes of working on him and then was breathing normal after the half hour. He’s 100% normal

To anyone wanting any puppy during their life:
Please read

Buying a well bred puppy
Buying a back yard bred “BYB” Puppy
Buying a puppy from a shelter or rescue
Receiving any puppy from someone for free

Regardless of which route you go,
there is absolutely NO guarantee that a puppy will develop into a dog with 0 medical issues of any kind for the life of the dog.

Let me repeat that:

Regardless of which route you go,
there is absolutely NO guarantee that a puppy will develop into a dog with 0 medical issues of any kind for the life of the dog.

When you buy a well bred puppy from an ethical breeder, what that means is you are increasing your “odds” of a better “chance” you will get a healthy dog with longevity as the lines of that dog are proven to uphold that.

When you buy a back yard bred “BYB” Puppy then you get a dog with typically unknown lineage, per say, from someone who did not health test / prove longevity in parents & lines so your chances increase for medical issues.

Buying a puppy from a shelter or rescue or Receiving any puppy from someone for free is a complete blind hope that nothing medical develops as most are extremely unknown lines, or breed / origin ect.

When / if you choose to pick a breed of dog, you MUST accept and understand the good AND bad that is prone to that breed.

Well bred does NOT mean “always perfect”.
Well bred means “higher chance of longevity”, but understanding that puppies are living creatures and you cannot predict the future when it comes to facilitating life (of any kind).

There is a stigma that any “ethical” or “reputable” breeder will *never* produce any dog that ever has skin, eye, heart, thyroid, orthopedic, GI ect or temperament issue, but if that’s truly the case then there are NO “ethical” or “reputable” breeders out there then because it HAS & WILL happen (at least one of these) in every single program (especially the longer you are breeding).
There is absolutely no guarantee of perfect life of any kind.
When you buy / adopt a puppy (or any form of life), it’s not to one day get “fully refunded” if any issues arise and be so blind with anger from where the life came from?
It’s to love & care for that life YOU chose to buy & take responsibility of and if it is too much for you to truly handle, any reputable breeder will GLADY receive the dog back to care for him / her.

It’s exhausting watching breeders (including myself) get thrown around for breeding fully health tested well bred dogs - but then have any issue arises with an offspring - then immediately get labeled with derogatory words & hate comments along with hatred from homes with these dogs (but that love who their dogs are and won’t return them).

If I’m buying an object, a machine, something made in a factory to be ABC way, yes, I’d expect that product to work like it was sold to me to do.

If I am buying / adopting a life, a living creature?
How can I get mad if this life ends up with a medical issue even when the origin was doing everything “right” to prevent those things from ever occurring.

There is a culture of “I need someone to blame” when in reality, we become happier when we accept reality and that *all life* is unpredictable.

Remember at the end of the day,
breeders are humans too.

We have emotions, most of us try our absolute best to prevent things from occurring and then go & try to do everything we can to “make it right” if they do occur.
We spend tens of thousands of our own money on everything to prevent any issues, thousands of hours bringing life into this world / selecting the “best” homes / opening our home to complete strangers / devoting our life to these creatures *and we do deserve respect* for providing dogs that you are able to love and to love you back, dogs that you don’t want to let go because you have deeply been able to bond with them.
Regardless of how you feel about your breeder, if you love who your dog is - there is something they did right, because they paired a home to a dog that shares a bond beyond words.

Coming from someone who buys puppies for myself to raise from other breeders and then breeds my own, it’s not easy, “puppies are a gamble” and I’m here to make sure ANY life that comes into mine is cared for until the end of time, breedable or not, every life deserves to be loved and there is no hate to anyone *no matter how a puppy develops to be* as all life is unpredictable even with consistently striving to prevent the unfortunate. 🖤

Not my post just wanted to share some knowledge from reputable breeder as I am future breeder aswell

Two Golden Retrievers. One is from a best in show breeding, one is from Billy Bob’s backyard breeding.

But you don’t want a “show dog,” you just want a “pet.” Well that’s great because not every dog is a show dog and if you have a litter of 10, if only a few of those become show dogs, you’re doing well. Both of these dogs are wonderful pets, equally deserving of a great home and a life of affection and adoration.

But what’s the difference?
One was bred with longevity and preservation in mind, to create a dog who is less prone to physical challenges and complications by focusing on a blue print, better known as the breed standard, that gives the dog a better life because it has a better physical structure.

What makes the other different?
No thought to longevity, their future, or what sustaining health issues or complications that could be endured, just that the check cleared the bank. Whatever happens after you pick the dog up, happens.

It’s building to code, aka the breed standard. Buying from a “builder”who breeds to code. Code is for safety, code is to protect, code is to ensure everything functions correctly. The builder has a warranty and goes through inspections (consider this as health testing) to ensure compliancy to code. And even over time their work is still qualitative. Compare to someone in the sticks who makeshifts a house together for a fraction of the price, which seems like a much better deal at the very moment, but as time continues, your house has issues upon issues that never end or worsen and you’re out far more than you ever would’ve been if you would’ve just paid the higher initial upfront cost. Then it’s your problem. That’s buying from someone who does not breed to code.

Just like bad breeders there are BAD BUYERS!

People who constantly ask a million questions to several breeders at one time and still never bring home a baby!

People who set up appointments to pick up or meet the puppy and never show up, cancel at the last minute, or disappear without a word!

People who try to haggle with breeders because thier perfect pup is not in thier price range!!

Buyers if you are activing looking YOU SHOULD:

1. Be prepared to place a deposit! Yes, most breeders with not Ready to go babies will require a deposit! Deposits are NON refundable! You back out you do not get it back!

2. Be finacially prepared to pay full amount at minimum of 2 weeks before pup is ready to go home! Or other wise discussed.

3. Have permission from everyone (especially spouse or parents) in the household before even speaking to a breeder!

4. Have a budget in place and expect that it may not be enough and do not demean or haggle. But willing to wait til you have the perferred amount to try again!

5. Be prepared for an emergancy that may cause you to back out, be honest with your breeder they may be willing to work with you.

6. Also do your homework to protect yourself from being scammed!

Breeders, good breeders spend 1,344 hrs caring for, worrying over, feeding, nurtering, and loving those babies. That is 80, 640 mins of our lives spent tirelessly keeping these babies alive and healthy so they can bring love, joy, and happiness to you and your family. That is not including the 1000s of dollars spent doing so.

People complain they do not make enough per hour to live on. Do you know what a breeders salary would be for just $10 an hr., the low line of most states minimum wage?? 13, 440 is what would be alotted for those 8 wks!

A breeders life is about those babies from the time they are concieved to the time they go home to you and in most cases it doesn't end there. We offer life long support, counciling, advice for as long as we are able or are needed.
