Shout out to our maintenance man Warren who has been out every afternoon this week in the absence of customers cutting the grass! He’s got round all 14 acres in this blazing heat 🥵 Meanwhile I’ve sat at home in front of the aircon unit 🤣

I hope everyone’s pooches are coping with this extreme heat we’re currently experiencing.

We’re currently only really selling early morning and late night slots but I would imagine the water area at the Adventure Field is really getting some use at the moment!

I often feel that the expectations of the water area to look beautifully clear and fresh all year round are unrealistic and keeping that area safe and clean is definitely one of the more challenging and time consuming parts of running the field.

I attach a copy of a message I’ve just received and my reply which I thought might be a useful read.

Please bear with us with grass cutting. They are big fields to get round and the rain makes everything grow very fast. We do our best with the limited times we can get in the fields 😊

What is it about dog fields that makes everything in them fair game to destruction?
I leave out extra paddling pools on hot days but can guarantee that within one day they will be split and cracked. Water containers with puncture holes, water bowls going missing!
Little brushes I leave out to give customers the option to clean a water bowl before use being chewed up, shoved in hedges or just thrown over the fence. Equipment being chewed up, holes being dug, the liner on the water area being ripped up repeatedly. It just doesn’t end! And today I tried to use an umbrella I keep at the Discovery for customers who may be caught in a shower and guess what……!

We’re going to release a couple more 5am, 8pm and 9pm slots in the fields for the next few days.

Extra slots have just been added to the booking calendar
8pms and 9pms in both fields tonight and tomorrow and 5ams tomorrow 😊

Bit annoying that on the eve of some hotter weather someone has pulled the plug out of the paddling pool ( and lost it), then filled the pool with mud? 🤷‍♀️
I’ve ordered some new plugs but in the meantime I’ve left a smaller paddling pool and extra water containers so at least there’s something wet for tomorrow’s customers!
