Conjure Curiosities

Conjure Curiosities Bugs, Bones, Botanicals, and Bygones. All of our captive-bred insects lived a full life. Foreign specimens are imported pursuant to federal regulations.

Ethical Sourcing Information -

Insect/Arachnid/Lepidoptera: Most of these specimens are purchased from insect conservation farms, or are hand-raised by us through our own conservation efforts. Some of our specimens may be field collected. Field collected specimens are found already dead or determined to be EOL (End-of-Life) and facing an inevitable death. EOL specimens are often found severely in

jured, stunned in spider webs, or being actively consumed by predators. These specimens are quickly, humanely euthanized to limit their suffering. An even smaller number of our specimens are the unfortunate byproduct of extermination services. Mammals/Birds/Reptiles/Amphibians: These specimens come from a variety of sources where they would have been otherwise destroyed or discarded. Animals are never harmed for the purpose of harvesting remains for our products. Our specimens come from a variety of sources. We scavenge from roadkill and wildlife management areas. We get calls from friends about animals on private property that succumbed to predators or died naturally. We also accept some byproducts from hunters, farms, and operate our own little urban homesteads. All of our products are legal to sell, trade, and own.

Black Death Monarch Butterflies PSA🦋 🖤

Our team at Conjure Curiosities work diligently to create beautiful, handcrafted, and most importantly ethically sourced pieces.

We love all creatures and work very closely with the butterflies we use in our pieces. Our monarchs are part of our personal conservation project to Save the Butterflies; hand-raised and tested regularly for signs of illness.

Unfortunately, the national Monarch Butterfly population is constantly threatened by an infection known as OE (Ophryocystis elektroscirrha). Small spores deposited on the eggs of caterpillars are consumed and cause many to weaken or die before pupation. The visual signs of OE are dark fungal-like growths; we playfully call those infected “Black Death Monarchs”.

We raise our butterflies in a controlled and decontaminated environment and release healthy specimens in the wild to replenish the population. Despite our best efforts, we come across many Black Death Monarchs in our work and dispatch them to ensure the health of future generations.

Our artists use these monarchs in their creations, and we use the money raised from each piece to pour back into Saving the Butterflies. Every time you purchase a piece with a Monarch, Queen, or other Danaus genus specimen, you help us Save the Butterflies!

Below are pinned "in progress" specimens and two pieces using Danaus spp. Butterflies that we have available 🖤🦋

Been hard at work getting these little guys ready for butterfly-hood!

It's been a lot of effort and learning to try to combat the Black Death™️ over the last year, and I'm hoping to have many healthy monarch butterflies for release this spring!

We will be keeping a small breeding stock as well as our weaker friends for peaceful, natural lifespans. By the end of the season we will have many well-lived butterflies for displays and curios!

Check out our page at for more updates! (and .wrangler on instagram cause that's one of our alts :P)

It will. 🤷🏻‍♀️
