Today's PSAS is the stunning Swamp Sunflower or Narrow-leaved Sunflower Helianthus angustifolius
This beautiful sunny short lived perennial is found in and around our lakes, swamps, & ditches. It blooms for a short time in fall, especially if we've had a lot of rain! It can grow from heights of 5 to 8 feet as you can see here! It will go dormant in the winter but come back. The Swamp Sunflower is also a pollinator attractor!

Today's PSAS is going to be on time & feature a native!
Rosinweed, Silphium asteriscus also called Starry Rosinweed. It is in the Asteraceae family which is the largest flowering plant family in the world with over 30,000 species!
It is a pollinator & butterfly magnet growing 3 - 6 feet tall & 1 - 2 feet wide, blooming from summer thru fall, it is winter dormant. It grows in full sun/partial shade, dry to moist soil, is drought tolerant once established, & does readily reseed! I have this planted on the sides of a "ditch" on my property & it is doing great. I had it before down in the "ditch" & it did die when it flooded after a hurricane.
I purchased this at Green Isle Gardens & will include 2 links I resourced !

It was really great to not have any rain today, but I am thinking of those in the path of this hurricane!
Prayers for all 🙏

My new cards came today! I made a couple of small changes and I'm very happy with how they came out!

Well! It certainly a great day to be a duck 🦆
Do your best to stay dry and be safe out there!

Good evening! I just realized I have not posted in a few days, I even forgot to do my PSAS 😱 I've had a busy couple of weeks and haven't posted much at all. There's been a lot of weeding, pet sitting, fish pond cleaning with my favorite Marine family, and the horse barn!
And I don't know if it's just me but it seems this last couple of weeks has been sooo hot and humid!
Now it's time to get some shut eye so we can start again tomorrow, have a good night folks!
