Some flooding already happening in some areas. More rain to come and now a possible storm….⛈️

FIRST TROPICAL STORM 🌀 OF THE SEASON???: The NHC has up the odds (40% through 48 hours, 50% through 7 days) for the trough of low pressure over Mexico.

The system is still forecasted to re-emerge back into the Gulf late Tuesday or Wednesday. The environment is marginally conducive for the formation of a SHORT-LIVE tropical storm Wednesday or Thursday.

What does this mean for Acadiana? Regardless of tropical development, we are still expecting a LARGE swath of torrential rainfall ⛈️ between now and the end of the week. All hazards include: widespread, life-threatening flash, urban and river flooding. Gusty winds and coastal flooding are possible as well.

According to the NHC, “Tropical Storm
Watches or Warnings could be required on Tuesday.”

Stay alert, and make the necessary preparations for the flood threat.

The Wild Mama Cat Saga – Part 2 🐱❤️

Remember the story about the wild mama cat?

A couple of weeks ago, she decided that the perfect place to have her babies was under my storage hay and surprised me with 5 kittens. I tried trapping mama and rescuing the kittens, but she outsmarted me every single time. So, I did the next best thing: set up a camera near her feeding station and kept watch from a distance.

Well, mama cat hadn’t shown up for dinner since Thursday evening, and that got me worried. So I launched a full-scale kitten hunt around the farm. After some searching, I finally found the babies and brought them to safety.

The good news: 2 kind-hearted ladies have already taken 3 of the kittens. The remaining little ones have had baths, eye treatments, plenty of love, and lots of TLC. ❤️

The challenge is that my farm is already running at full capacity. Between 105 quail, 25 ducklings, goats to milk, a cow to milk, and everything else that comes with farm life, these babies really deserve someone who has the time and experience to give them the attention they need.

They are doing great and seem ready to start exploring soft food in addition to bottle feedings.

Would anyone be interested in helping these sweet little furballs? They deserve a safe, loving home where they can continue to thrive. Please message me if you can help or share this post so we can find them the perfect family. 🐈 💕

We just sprayed for bugs and mosquitoes…. Will have to do it again after all this rain !

Growing concern for an impactful rain system developing off the LA/TX coasts later this week. First off, what in the world is a hybrid low? We can fight over whether this is tropical in nature or frontal - it doesn’t matter. There is potential for a concentrated area of significant rainfall and maybe even some wind. The National Hurricane Center may keep the chances low for tropical development because the low isn’t totally tropical, but I think the impacts will be depression or storm-like.

This will be developing off Texas on Wednesday and cross into Louisiana Thursday/Friday. Depending on the track of the low we’re likely to see a concentrated area of 12”+ of rainfall and don’t be shocked if as the low gets inland, it creates some wind energy. Coastal flooding in our southern shores will also be a concern.

Note that this will come on the backside of a heavy rainfall setup Monday/Tuesday. Just the early week rain from a stalling front may yield 6” in places. This is that area I’ve been saying to watch for on the tail of the front spinning up.

The small details need to be ironed out. Where exactly does the low track? Over SE TX/SW LA/SE LA? That will determine who sees a lot of rain and who sees very little. Can this organize enough to create a wind circulation? Still plenty of question marks 3-4 days out. Stay tuned to the forecast!

🐄🦟 Farmer Saturday: Bug Battle Edition 🦟🐐

While most people are enjoying a beautiful Saturday at the farmers market, relaxing by the pool, firing up the grill, or visiting friends and family… we spent our day playing exterminator. 😅

Today, every animal (except the cats, because apparently they have their own opinions), barns, fences, stalls, corners, cracks, and crevices got sprayed. Our mission: eliminate mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, flies, and anything else that thinks Triple B Farms is an all-you-can-eat buffet. And with all the talk about screwworms lately, we’re taking no chances!

It’s amazing how much work goes into keeping animals healthy and comfortable. Most people see the cute cows, goats, chickens, and kittens. Farmers see flea life cycles, mosquito breeding grounds, mystery bites, and endless prevention projects. 🤣

So while others spent their Saturday relaxing, we spent ours declaring war on bugs. The good news? The animals are happier, the farm is safer, and we’re one step closer to winning the battle.

And honestly… we wouldn’t trade this crazy farm life for anything. ❤️🚜
