We’re adding a AKC Chocolate Merle Pomeranian to the personal family 💓🤗
When my husband and I first got together, I was importing Chinese cresteds from the Ukraine for show plans, and we brought over a dog that his testicles never dropped, as many as you guys know when you are making breeding plans, a LOT of these investments don’t always go directly as planned. We had a couple really nice dogs that I took over from a local breeder in the middle of the state, my mom actually ended up keeping two really nice puppies, and unfortunately, for myself I never retained anything to keep the plans going and several females never took again for me to retain from.
We’re making the hard decision to pull the bullies from our program since it was something my husband really wanted to do, and my close friend and I were trying to make a game plan, things definitely just did not coordinate to plan to keep focusing on bettering the breed, showing, quality of health vs larger & removing longevity.
Anyways… we’ve put some of our really nice dogs into other programs that could utilize and stay visualizing with what they should be.
I’ve gone back-and-forth on importing another Chinese crested all over again, since that’s where my experience lays, but I wanted something a little smaller, fluffy and personal. So we’re adding a pom baby to the household, if health testing goes well, we will have plans for late 2027. I do not at this time plan to bring on any studs, and will primarily focus on 1-2 females over the next 2 years, keeping my numbers smaller. I have found a few breeders to work with to ship semen in, as I really don’t want to add to my boy count, (unless it’s dire) as I have one sheepie boy, one micro berne boy, and a st poodle boy in the breeding program on site & one mini Berne in a guardian 🤗
Bijou comes home the 2nd week of July & I’ll be making a trip to go collect her from north GA. Dr Nichols will do her intake exam for cardiac & patellas at 12 weeks old to make sure we are looking at a bright future & she will go with Cider, Snow and me in August for OFA eyes. 💓
The hard thing with Poms, is that a lot of breeders are not OFA testing to standard due to smaller sizing, Going as companions, and it’s very rare to collect breeding rights with full AKC - so I’m appreciate, and blessed the breeder and I were able to chat and she felt comfortable for me to have her lines with the favorite colors I’ve been looking for, but my number one will be health testing with the basics as soon as possible to see if our future stands a chance 🙏
