From Down Under to the Top of the World: The Journey of Kharon
Every dog has a story, but some stories span entire oceans. If you have spent any time around the conformation ring lately, you might have seen a stunning Swedish Vallhund turning heads and sweeping ribbons. His official name is Aust Ch / AKC GCh Icanhaz Eclipse For Skyfyre, but at home, we just call him Kharon.
His journey to becoming an American Grand Champion is a tale of big dreams, thousands of miles, and a very special puppy who was born to shine.
The Australian Dream Team
Kharon’s story starts in Australia. He was bred by the incredibly talented Alexandra Proudfoot of Icanhaz Swedish Vallhunds. But raising a champion truly takes a village. Kharon was blessed with a phenomenal Australian team who raised, loved, and showed him to greatness: Alexandra Proudfoot, Meg Gardner, Linda Marie, and Lucy Watkins.
These four wonderful ladies put their hearts into Kharon. They taught him the ropes, built his confidence, and transformed him into an exceptional show dog. Thanks to their dedication and expert training, he learned how to command attention the second he stepped into a ring.
A High-Flying Australian Career
Australia is a massive country, and competing at the highest levels means putting in some serious miles. Kharon wasn't just a local star—he was a seasoned jet-setter!
With his amazing team by his side, Kharon flew all over Australia to compete in major shows. Navigating busy airports, catching flights, and stepping off the plane ready to perform in a brand-new city takes a very special, stable temperament. Kharon handled the frequent flying like an absolute professional, winning over judges across the continent and easily earning his Australian Championship (Aust Ch) title.
A Great Dane in a Vallhund Body
While the ladies taught him how to fly across the country and stack like a professional, Kharon's four-legged friends at home taught him a different lesson entirely. Growing up around dogs of all sizes, Kharon came to a hilarious realization: he firmly believes he is a Great Dane trapped in a Swedish Vallhund body!
He might be low to the ground, but Kharon has the massive presence, bold heart, and fearless attitude of a giant. He carries himself with absolute confidence, never letting his short stature get in the way of his big personality.
Landing in Sunny Miami
Importing a dog from Australia to the United States takes months of planning, paperwork, and a massive leap of faith. Leaving his homeland—and his beloved Aussie team—behind, Kharon boarded another long flight and traveled all the way to Miami.
Adjusting to a brand-new country and climate after such a long journey can be hard for some dogs. But for a dog who was already used to flying from state to state back home, an international flight was just another day on the job. That big "Great Dane" attitude served him perfectly. Kharon stepped off the plane in Florida with his tail wagging, completely unfazed and ready to conquer a brand-new continent.
Conquering the American Show Ring
Once Kharon settled into life in the U.S., it was time to see how he would match up in the American Kennel Club (AKC) conformation rings. To say he exceeded expectations is an understatement!
Kharon took the American show world by storm and quickly earned his American Championship. It was at this exciting stage that Wendy Keene joined the team. Wendy joined Kharons team as a Co-owner and stepped in to handle Kharon, taking him out as a special to compete at the highest levels.
With Wendy's expertise and dedication guiding him in the specials ring, Kharon pushed forward to capture his Grand Championship (GCh). Together, they flew up the AKC leaderboards to secure his spot as one of the top-ranked Swedish Vallhunds in the country. Watching him move around the ring with power and precision is a reminder of all the hard work that went into breeding, raising, and showing him on both sides of the world.
The Heart Behind the Champion
While the shiny ribbons and grand titles are thrilling, the best part of Kharon isn’t his show record. It is his heart. Behind the champion coat is a loyal companion, a professional supervisor of daily life, and a dog who brings endless joy to everyone he meets.
He represents the very best of his breed, a perfect bridge between top Australian bloodlines and American success. We are forever grateful to Alexandra, Meg, Linda, and Lucy for giving him the perfect foundation, and to Wendy for taking him to the next level in the U.S. Thank you all for trusting us with this once-in-a-lifetime boy.
Kharon’s eclipse didn't block out the light—it brought a whole new level of brilliance to our world. Stay tuned to the blog as we continue to share his updates, upcoming show adventures, and life behind the scenes
