This handsome face is our newest foster and train pup, Rocket. At 2 years old and approximately 60lbs, this boxer mix is ready for his next adventure.

While Rocket is with us, we will begin setting a solid foundation to help him successfully transition into a home environment. He will be learning how to comfortably settle and sleep in a crate, as well as safely travel in one while in the car. Rocket will also be working on polite leash manners so walks can become enjoyable and stress-free for both him and his future family. Along with that, we’ll be introducing basic obedience cues and engagement skills to help create clear communication and structure for his adopters.

As Rocket settles in, we will also be focusing on building confidence, creating healthy routines, and exposing him to new environments in a positive and productive way. Our goal is not just training behaviors, but helping Rocket learn how to decompress, make good choices, and thrive in everyday life.

Rocket is a sweet boy who deserves a family willing to continue guiding him and helping him succeed. We are excited to share his progress along the way and can’t wait to watch him continue to grow during his time with us at Ruff Pup Canine Academy.

We are proud to be partnering with Napa County Animal Shelter and Friends of Napa County Animal Shelter to help Rocket find the perfect forever home. If you may be interested in adopting Rocket, stay tuned for updates on his journey or reach out for more information. 🖤🐾

Coco (aka Coconut 🥥) is our newest training pup welcomed into the Ruff Pup Canine Family! At just 10 months old, Coco is a sweet but timid girl who can feel unsure in new environments and around unfamiliar people.

With dogs like Coco, we believe in taking things slow and working at the dog’s pace. Our first priority is helping her settle in comfortably here at Ruff Pup Ranch and building trust before asking too much of her. Once she’s feeling more confident, we’ll begin focusing on proper exposure, engagement, leash manners, and helping her work through her reactivity on walks in a fair and structured way.

Confidence isn’t built overnight — it’s built through consistency, clear communication, and positive experiences. We can’t wait to watch Coco continue to grow during her stay with us and share her progress along the way. 🐾

Buster & Juno’s very first walk together—ever—took on downtown today ✔️

Up until now, even their individual walks have been a challenge, so bringing them out side by side in a busy, real-world environment is a huge step forward.

They’re already showing noticeable progress from day one, and moments like this are exactly why we focus on building clear communication and structure first. Excited to keep stacking wins and continue building these skills alongside their owner. 🐾

Dogs don’t just spill the tea… sometimes they shed it too 😂🐾

Ever notice your dog leaving a trail of fur when they’re nervous, overstimulated, or in a new environment? That’s called “blowing coat,” and yes—it can absolutely be triggered by stress.

Vet visits, grooming appointments, new places, big crowds… all that pressure can have your pup saying, “Nope, I’m out,” one hair at a time 😅

The good news? As dogs build confidence and learn how to stay calm in those situations, that stress shedding often improves too.

So if your dog turns into a walking fur tornado in certain moments—you’re not alone, and it’s something we can absolutely work through 💪🐶
