Today we worked with Tzar again, this time at Lowe's. Unfortunately he was not set up for success for the majority of his life and thus has very little confidence and major stranger danger and is more or less scared of life. Sudden noises, movements, and confined spaces are a challenge for him, but he’s made a ton of progress since his dad rescued him about 8 months ago now.

Since we started he’s gotten more comfortable with people visiting his dad in his home, but we still have work to do of course. Today was a big day for him, we went and walked around Lowe’s for awhile (we spent half the time desensitizing him walking back and forth in front of the building beforehand)
Sadly a very well intentioned employee wanted to say hello and spooked Tzar so we had to work hard to do a little reset. Hopefully with some more uneventful brief visits and reassurance from his dad he will be feeling much more confident when he goes in public.

Just a note that while he is visibly very stressed we were only in the store for approximately 2 minutes and allowed for decompression time afterward. Additionally was never forced into situation, he walked willingly into the store with me. It’s always my goal to not further traumatize dogs.

I’m so proud of myself! I scored 100% on the first phase exam!

No walk is complete without a little extra enrichment. Our dogs always find alternative ways to use the exercise equipment on walking trails lol

Don’t mind Timber’s eyes. He just really wants the treat 😂

Chopper’s final session I brought Echo to have a confident dog for him to walk with. His owners still have a lot of work ahead of them seeing as he’s only a 5 month old Aussie puppy but if they follow through with everything I know he can grow into a great adult dog someday.

This week so far..

I went for a drop in session with Luna, a puppy I helped with reactivity and leash skills a few months ago. We went over how to prepare her for her humans leaving for work and how to prevent separation anxiety.

Tzar had his third session for behavioral issues, mainly being afraid of everyone and everything. We went for a walk and he barely barked at me. A few treats and we were back to being friends again!

Charlie is staying with us while his mom is on vacation and super-regular Ellie is staying with us as well while her mom travels for work.

Today was Chopper’s first puppy session. It took quite a bit to get him into willingly working but we got a nice start to a heel going!

Meet Tzar! Today was his first session to help with some behavioral concerns his human is having. He’s a sweet boy but he’s very insecure and fearful of strangers. This guy definitely has a long way to go but he went from barking at me for his entire evaluation to laying down and calmly taking treats from me by the end of our time today.
