146 people are shopping for and can afford a high-five-figure, Third Level horse in the USA.

Now, full disclosure: I’m super dyslexic, so math and numbers are not exactly my strong suit. 😅But since my usual conversational partner is taking a nap, I decided to record myself thinking through this little market scenario instead.

What do you think? Is this accurate?

Is the market really slow, or is there simply more product than there are qualified buyers? I could 100% get on the soapbox of why these horses cost this much and why they are worth that much. I’m just interested in how many people are actually able to purchase them.

Super day at Luminescent Farm teaching group of super dedicated and passionate riders!

I love going to such a supportive community first farm, and seeing theses riders improve and come ready for homework every month. Students like this are what make my job so rewarding and I’m so grateful for them.

Back in the show ring baby

It was my first trip down centerline in three years, a gap in competing that hasn’t happened to me since my first horse show as a kid! The first time back in the show ring since losing my mare, having a baby, moving, and all the craziness in between.

A huge thank you to Georgia for trusting me with her lovely mare. Val gave me the chance to knock off the rust, quiet my mind, and simply enjoy riding again. Stepping back into the ring at Third Level on a horse who is generous, knows her job, and is more than happy to remind me who’s really in charge was an absolute gift. 🤍

I am incredibly grateful to ride along side an amazing supportive community, And deeply grateful for the good mares that have a way of finding me exactly when I need them most.

And damn, it feels good to be back. 🥂

I love breed shows.

Yesterday we took Tango to her very first show at Majestic Farm, and it reminded me why these events are so valuable for young horses. The atmosphere is welcoming, educational, and incredibly supportive—an ideal place for future dressage horses to gain confidence and experience. Plus, you basically get ribbons for having good taste in horses.

Tango handled the entire day with grace, confidence, and maturity. She also showed everyone what an absolute powerhouse she is. 🤩

She averaged a 76%, received numerous compliments on her stunning presence, exceptional manners, and powerful hind leg, and came home with two neck ribbons and a cooler. Not a bad way to start her show career! She certainly set the bar high, and I already can’t wait to ride her in the next one.

What does it actually take to sell a quality horse?
Sitting with my celebratory glass of bubbly after a recent sale, I got to thinking. What did it actually take? How many people did I talk to? So I counted.

Here are the numbers from selling one horse:

• 180 inquiries
• 5 different methods of communication (Instagram, Facebook, text, email, phone)
• 16 marketing posts created
• 23 serious conversations (phone calls or extended message/email conversations)
• 6 in-person viewings
• 1 buyer

And that’s before you count the hours spent riding, training, filming, editing videos, writing ads, answering messages at all hours, organizing vet records, money spent of professional photos, equipment, and ads, scheduling trials, and the viewings themselves.

Here’s another statistic that surprised even me:

Out of 180 inquiries, only 23 turned into real conversations. Of those, maybe 40% told me why they decided to pass. The rest? They simply disappeared. Some even ghosted after serious conversations.

And honestly? I don’t hold it against them. Life is busy, horse shopping moves fast, and sometimes people simply change direction.

My average serious phone conversation on a sale horse takes between ten minutes and an hour and so an average of 40 minutes.

But the next time you wonder why you need a trainer to sell your horse, remember this.

You’re not paying someone to just post a horse online.

You’re paying for the dozens of hours spent filtering through the 180 inquiries to find the one rider who is the right fit for that horse.

The sale is the final handshake. The real work happens to get you there.

With the recent sale of a fabulous horse I have limited availability to add some horses and people to my schedule.

My focus has always been on producing confident horses, educated riders, and lasting partnerships through correct, individualized training. My niche is young dressage horses. My first priority is horsemanship. Oh and by the way, we have a lot of fun on the journey!

I’m incredibly grateful to have had Ori in my life and the opportunity to train, develop, and ultimately help connect him with his person. He is truly a special soul, and I’m excited to see him begin this next chapter where I know he’ll continue to make a people smile daily.
