This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the incredible impact Hispanic and Latino professionals continue to make in veterinary medicine. 🩺✨

While Hispanics currently represent a small percentage of veterinarians in the U.S., their growing presence is helping shape a stronger, more inclusive future for the veterinary field. Today and every day, we recognize the contributions, dedication, and passion of Hispanic and Latino individuals across the profession.

Let’s continue to encourage representation, amplify diverse voices, and support a veterinary community where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered. ❤️🐾

Today, we pause to remember the courageous rescue dogs of 9/11 and the handlers who worked beside them during one of our nation’s darkest days. More than 300 search and rescue dogs assisted tirelessly in the recovery efforts, bringing comfort, determination, and hope to first responders and families affected by the tragedy.

Their loyalty, bravery, and unwavering spirit will never be forgotten. We also honor the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the countless individuals who came together in service and sacrifice.

May we continue to remember and carry their legacy forward.🐾

August is National Immunization Awareness Month! 💉🐾 Keeping your pet current on vaccinations is an important part of protecting their long-term health and helping prevent the spread of serious diseases. We’re sharing a few helpful reminders about why vaccines matter for pets and our community alike. ❤️

✔️ Vaccinations can help avoid costly treatments for diseases that can often be prevented
✔️ Vaccines help protect against illnesses that can spread between animals, and even from animals to people
✔️ Diseases found in wildlife, such as rabies and distemper, can infect and spread among unvaccinated pets

At First State Urgent Vet, we not only provide walk-in urgent care, but also offer wellness care to help keep your pets healthy year-round. So if you need a last-minute vaccine before summer travel or want to make sure your pet is up to date on their preventative care, we’re here to help.

We’re open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 7 PM, making it easy to get care when you need it most.
