Please say hiii to Papi!!🤎 This cutie is a four month old Toy Poodle puppy who started his training journey with me back in July, and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress he has made already!

With puppies, we’re not just teaching commands, we’re building the foundation for a confident, well mannered dog who knows how to navigate everyday life. For Papi, we’ve been focusing on the big puppy essentials! That includes potty training, kennel training, and basic obedience commands like sit, down, leave it, place, and learning how to listen and focus around distractions.

We’ve also been putting a big emphasis on desensitization and confidence building. We’re working through different smells, noises, environments, movements, and everyday distractions so Papi can learn that the world around him isn’t something to worry about.

Of course he’s still very much a puppy with plenty of puppy moments, but he’s learning, growing, and laying such a great foundation for the dog he’s going to become.

I’m so excited to continue watching and helping this little guy grow! 🤍🐾

Miss Fiona! One of my sweet board & train pups from the summer! ☀️

Fiona came to stay with me for thirteen days this summer to work on building confidence, strengthening her obedience, and learning how to make good choices even when there are plenty of distractions around. Being able to learn Fiona’s personality and the way she thinks on a deeper level, and to be able to explain this information to her parents was such a rewarding part of our time together.

She was such a fun girl to have around, and those giant ears definitely kept me smiling every day!🐾🤍

Happy Wednesday from Teddy!🙌🏻 Teddy’s parents reached out to me at the beginning of summer wanting help with Teddy’s impulse control and his listening ears. He loved to pick and choose when he would want to listen to them as well throw a temper tantrum if he wasn’t getting enough attention. This was a worry to his parents as they were having their first baby in July! We worked together to improve Teddy’s ability to regulate in exciting and fun moments as well as refine a lot of his commands. We practiced impulse control using place and recalls and we also touched up on his leash walking skills knowing he would soon be walking next to a stroller. I was able to have Teddy for a week to do a board and train while his mom and dad had their baby in the hospital! He was so excited to meet his new baby sister and show off everything he practiced at my house. Teddy made so much progress in those few short months leading up to the new baby and now the whole family has been adjusting and learning what the new normal is like!🤍🐾

Maple and Charlie would like to say good morning! This brother and sister duo have been in training all summer and I can tell you they tried to convince me every lesson that they did NOT indeed need training!🤣🤣 Their mom wanted a little extra help with manners inside when guest come over, leash walking out in the neighborhood, and recalls in the backyard. Their mom was thrilled to dive deeper into learning each of their personalities individually and their dynamic together. We were able to break down both of their strengths and weaknesses to be able to provide the most successful style of training for each of them. The progress they made blew their mom away! We will be getting back together for a few more lessons this fall to continue to work on leash walking when the weather cools off too!🥵🐾🤍

Everyone say hi to Birdie! This cutie started training when her parents rescued her to get all the ground worm started. We introduced commands, manners, kennel training, potty training, leash training, and more. She has a big personality in a small body and she loves to learn new things! This picture was from May and she has almost doubled in size since! Birdie is coming to stay for a board and train soon and I am excited to be able to continue advancing her skills.🐾🙌🏻🤍

Big boy Bear is now apart of the Seaside fam!🙌🏻 I worked with Bear’s family to help introduce his basic commands, manners, and his impulse control. We focused on his impulse control knowing how big Bear was going to be fully grown and living with his two younger (human) brothers! Sometimes it’s hard to remember our expectations of puppies especially when they are the size of some full grown adult dogs at 5 months old. Bear did come and stay with me for a week in May to do a board and train where we worked on outdoor recalls, dog socialization, and more impulse control! Being able to implement controlled protocols and structure has helped Bear and his family find that sweet balance in their house. He is such a sweetie and loves his people for sure!🥰🐾🤍

Marley is up next! Marley was adopted out of the Canines for Service organization here in Wilmington after they determined her not fit for assistance dog work. Although she may have not made the cut for the job, she found herself exactly where she was supposed to be with her new family! Marley had a great foundation of training but she needed a few tweaks to refine her impulse control. We worked to find Marley appropriate outlets to burn off some of the “work mode” mindset she was use to having. It is just as important for a dog to be able to turn their brains off and be calm in realistic environments and around distractions. It was almost important to work with Marley’s parents to help them with their handling skills to ensure Marley’s success! It didn’t take many lessons to get Marley and her family in a good place to continue maintaining her new protocols and practicing her training!👏🏻🐾🤍

I’m playing catch up with all the doggies I’ve been working with over the summer! Everyone say hello to Chester!👋🏻 Chester was rescued by his parents after being brought in off the streets of Burgaw. They reached out to me to help Chester with his alert barking, leash walking, manners, and commands. Chester was a fun one to learn and understand on a deeper level because he was so intelligent but fearful of a lot due to his past. We worked on his boundaries and consistency (increases confidence) to get him to a place his parents are so much happier with! The progress we made in a short few months was extremely impressive and a testament to how much practice his parents put in. Go Chester!!🎉🤍🐾

The other day someone asked if I was still training dogs because they hadn’t seen me post in a while… I was like, “Of course! I’m busier than ever, thankfully!”😅 It definitely made me realize why so many businesses hire someone to run their social media, because it somehow always ends up at the bottom of my to-do list🫣 The good news is we’re out here doing the thing!

On that note, let me introduce you to my buddy, Buddy!! This sweet doodle has been working with me for a few months on leash walking, impulse control, and overall manners. His mom loves taking him on multiple walks a day, often while juggling a stroller, a toddler bike, and snack duty…so she needed Buddy to stay calm, walk nicely beside her, and not react to every dog they pass.

Living in a busy neighborhood means constant distractions, so we’ve been focusing on helping Buddy work through those big feelings and stay tuned in to his mom. With a few simple equipment changes and consistent training, he’s already walking at a better pace and becoming so much more manageable, distractions or not.

I’m so excited to see how much he continues to grow over these next few lessons 🤍🐾
