Meet Teddy, a sweet, gentle soul who has been through a lot and still greets the world with soft eyes and a wagging tail.

Teddy is 7 years old. He has a neurological autoimmune disorder. We don’t fully understand it yet, and we can’t predict how it will affect him long-term. He could live a full, happy life… or he may face challenges related to the condition as time goes on. This disorder causes small episodes where he shakes for a few minutes and may become wobbly or his legs may stiffen. The neurologist says the disorder is linked to the part of the brain that controls balance. He is on medication and will need to stay on it for life. Other than these occasional episodes, he is a happy, heathy boy.

Teddy is a loving, affectionate boy who lights up for attention, enjoys quiet moments, and just wants to be someone’s dog. He deserves a family who can love him for exactly who he is—one day at a time. Someone patient, prepared for possible medical needs, and ready to give him the secure, gentle home he’s waiting for.

He does well with other dogs. Don’t know how he would be with cats since he isn’t currently around them but he is pretty laid back so he would probably do ok.

Teddy likes to be close all the time. He will follow you around like a shadow.

He sleeps well in a crate at night, without a peep. If his foster mom goes out during the day, she leaves him loose and he does great as long as there is no food he can get into. He pretty much just sleeps on the couch waiting for her to come home. She has crated him when going out and he generally just makes a few squeaks and calms down.

Teddy LOVES to eat. He is very food motivated. He will let you know when it time to eat long before it is by sitting and staring at you. It’s pretty funny, if you go to pet him he will back up as to tell you, it isn’t time for lovin', it’s time for eat'n.

Teddy walks well on a leash and loves car rides.

❤❤Meet Hazel❤❤

Hazel is a sweet 4-year-old, 6 pound spayed and vaccinated Miniature Poodle who was rescued from a breeder and is now learning what it means to be loved and cared for. Sadly, Hazel has had very little human handling throughout her life, so she is understandably shy, and unsure of the world around her, but once she knows you're safe, she melts for rubs and treats.

She's working on potty training and leash walking just like her sister Truffle, making a little progress every day. All she needs is a patient person and a few snacks to win her heart.

Hazel would do best in a quiet, patient home where someone is home most of the time, or with a confident companion dog who can help show her the ropes. She is currently being fostered with her friend Truffle, another very shy former breeding dog along with several other small dogs. Everyone gets along wonderfully, with no displays of aggression.

Although Hazel is still finding her confidence, her underlying personality is already beginning to shine through. She is a gentle, sweet girl who simply needs time, patience, understanding, and lots of love.

Just like her friend Truffle, Hazel is truly another diamond in the ruff. 💎 With the right person by her side, we believe this timid girl could blossom into a playful, affectionate, and loving companion.

Hazel doesn’t need a perfect home — she needs a special person who will give her the time she deserves and never give up on her.

Meet Truffle! 💛

Truffle is a 4 year old, 8 pound Miniature Poodle who arrived here after living in a horrible backyard breeding situation. She probably lived in a cage or kennel her entire life so all things related to being a family pet are new to her, but she is loving it.

Truffle is a sweetheart through and through, she just takes a little time to warm up. Once she does, she's all love, cuddles, and tail wags.

She's still learning the ropes with potty training and walking on a leash, but she's trying so hard and is so proud of herself when she gets it right. She'd do best with someone patient who will let her go at her own pace.

Since she is just learning leash walking a fenced yard is going to be best, and having another dog would also be wonderful for her.

She is spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped and ready to find her forever home.

That looks like one happy puppy. Lainey was one of the 12 puppies found near a freeway. Hard to believe someone would dump such small pups. Luckily for Lainey her foster family fell in love and decided to adopt her, so she is already settled in and loving her new life.

Meet Laverne & Shirley...and along the way, enjoy a few helpful "Did You Know?" facts.

These adorable ladies are approximately 10-week-old Chihuahua/Yorkie mixes. There may be a little mystery ingredient in the recipe, but one thing we do know: they're expected to stay on the small side and could easily be part of your family for 15+ years.

Did You Know #1:
Before sending us a question, check out our pinned Facebook post or website. Most of our frequently asked questions about the process, applications, fees, where we adopt, and requirements are already answered there.

These girls are 100% puppy. They are energetic, curious, mischievous, and firmly believe that if something exists, it should be investigated, tasted, destroyed, or dragged across the room. Or better yet, pottied on. Their future home will need plenty of patience, supervision, and a sense of humor.

Did You Know #2:
All dogs adopted from Homes Fur Hounds under 12 months of age are required to attend an approved training program.

🐾 Laverne
Laverne is the smooth-coated sister and currently weighs about 6 pounds. She has more of the Chihuahua look and is outgoing, silly, and always ready for adventure.
One thing to note: Laverne gets carsick. Our veterinarian has advised that she may outgrow it, though she could require medication for travel in the future. Because of this, she may not be the ideal co-pilot for someone who spends a lot of time road-tripping with their dog.

Did You Know #3:
We typically do not place tiny puppies together or in homes with very small children. Littermate Syndrome is not just a myth. Little puppies and little kids can be an unintentional recipe for injury, stress, and heartbreak, even if your children are perfect angels.

🐾 Shirley
Shirley sports the shaggy, rough-coated look and currently weighs about 5 pounds. She resembles a Yorkie more than her sister. While slightly less outgoing than Laverne, she's still very friendly, playful, and delightfully silly. Shirley's favorite pastime is being carried and cuddling.
It is important to note that her fontanel has not fully closed yet (typical for the breed), so she'll need a family that understands the condition and the importance of handling her carefully and keeping her safe.

We contact your current veterinarian as part of our application review process and a home visit may be considered before adoption.

Both girls have been exposed to other pets and do well with gentle, small, playful dogs and friendly kitties. They can be a little unsure around large dogs with booming barks, so slow introductions are best.

They have received their first set of vaccinations, been dewormed, started on appropriate preventatives, and have been microchipped.

We are so happy that the family who adopted Johnny Cash decided he was so cute and such a good puppy that they wanted another one. So Crystal Gayle left this weekend for her new home. You can see how happy they are to have a doggy sibling to play with.

❤❤Lizzie is a tiny little sweetheart who is looking for someone who will let her golden years be her best one’s yet.❤❤

It’s clear Lizzie has had a hard life so far, but that doesn’t stop her from absolutely loving humans despite what they have done to her in the past.

Lizzie is somewhere between 8-10 years old, completely house trained, and we have been told that she has lived with cats in the past. She enjoys snuggling on soft blankets, playing with toys, sniffing around the yard, walks with humans and lots of pets and snuggles.

She did absolutely beautifully at two adoption events, meeting dogs and people on leash with nice manners. She can have some anxiety in new situations and will cry sometimes, looking to her people for reassurance. She will sometimes bark when left but will quickly settle. She has learned how to be kept in the crate but could easily be a dog who is left out when no one is home after making sure she is comfortable.

Because Lizzie suffered from some abuse and neglect in her past, she is working through a few quirks. She will resource guard (protect) things that are important to her from other dogs. So far this has been limited to food and people. She has given warning signs to other dogs to stay away from those things from time to time. Because of this, she will either need to be the only dog on the home, or with a neutral non reactive dog friend. She has never shown any signs of aggression towards people.

We know that there is a match for her out there that wants a low maintenance dog who is already house trained (and knows sit, stay, and go lie down! ), understands that senior dogs who have a past deserve love, patience, and understanding. She is 100% worth it- just look at her!!

🐾 Tiny Treasures Looking for Their Forever Homes 🐾

We have the sweetest little small-breed puppies available for adoption through our rescue, and we want to be completely transparent about what these babies need.

Because they are so small and delicate, homes with young children are not a good match. These tiny pups can be easily injured by rough play or accidental bumps. Even jumping down from a chair or couch can cause them to break a leg. We do think an active home with older children with experience with small dogs would be fine. These puppies do love to play, so another small, young, playful dog would be best.

Please also keep their long lifespan in mind — these little ones often live 16–18 years. We’re looking for forever families who are ready for that long-term commitment. Our biggest goal is to place them once and only once. We never want them to be rehomed.

These puppies were found on the side of a freeway so we are just guessing on the breed. They look like they are a Maltese mix. Dolly is very tiny at 2.8 pounds and Willie is the biggest at about 7 pounds. Crystal is about 5 pounds.

Cooper is one of the sweet little toy poodles rescued from a backyard breeder. He is 7yrs old and 7 pounds, the perfect age and size. He is timid but once he knows he can trust you he will never want to leave your lap. He was initially scared of grass but is now zooming around and enjoying the backyard.

His housebreaking has gone very well and now sleeps all night without having to go out! He really does want to snuggle all day with his person and has become a complete lap dog.

He still doesn't know what toys are, and treats are really not his thing. His appetite is good, and he's beginning to be curious about his environment.

Halters and leashes seem to really scare him, so for now he's getting his exercise in the backyard. He needs a loving ,patient home and someone who can be with him most of the day.

He gets along with dogs his own size, and seems to be ok with school age children, but would also do well being the only dog.

Meet Cookie Dough. Cookie Dough is a 3-4 year old Miniature Dachshund looking for a home.

Cookie Dough was surrendered by her owners and they had this to say about her:

"First and foremost, she's a sweet, loving dog."

They let us know that she is affectionate, loves to snuggle, walks great on a leash and enjoys walks.

She is great traveling in the car, likes to play but is not overly rambunctious (loves to roam in fenced in backyard and explore). Her energy level is moderate - Often just likes to sleep in her dog bed or on the couch.

Good in the home with other dogs (sometimes reacts to dogs in the street on leash but not always).

Not destructive of property but likes a chew toy and chews pinecones. She does like to play with toys.

She lets you clip her nails with treat ready and tolerates a bath.

Cookie Dough does not like being left alone. She will not tolerate being in a crate so she is gated off into a "away zone" with another dog. She does OK when the other dog is with her, but if the other dog is not kept with her in this gated area she becomes very elevated with barking, howling, whining, and pacing.

Cookie really likes being by the other dog and often gets in the dog bed with him, so we are looking for a home for her with another dog who would be friendly with her.

She is not completely housebroken. She sometimes goes to door when she needs to go out but also sneaks off and pees on carpets even if she was out recently. Except for one instance early on, she is not pooping in the house. But who ever adopts her will need to work on the housebreaking.

Cookie needs a home with another small dog to play with. A fenced yard would be best to help with the housebreaking.

Cookie did have two seizure in the last year. The vet thinks may be stress related. The last one was in June and they did not suggest putting her on any medication.
