Ask all the questions! We don’t mind.
Good Morning every Bunny!!!
There has been a lot of discussion lately on breeders pages about people who inquire on a rabbit, ask lots of questions and then decide not to move forward. I’ve seen jokes about charging by the hour for answering questions because “people waste time.” I just wanted to state that me, personally I welcome the questions. The big ones, the small ones and even the questions people think are silly.
I want not only my bunny homes, but ALL bunny homes, to be as educated as possible before bringing home a rabbit or any pet. If I can help make that happen in any way, I’m happy to do so. I always encourage people to search up reasons not to get a rabbit. If any of those reasons are an absolute no for your family, then a bunny likely is not the right fit for your home and that is completely okay. It is far better to learn that beforehand than to bring home a pet, have your family and children become attached, have the bunny settle in and bond as well, only to realize later it wasn’t the right fit and need to rehome them.
If I answer all of someone’s questions and they ultimately decide a rabbit is not for them, then honestly… I did my job. That doesn’t make them a bad home. In many ways, it shows they are a good home because they cared enough to ask questions, do research and make a responsible decision beforehand.
I do require a 50% non-refundable deposit on any bunny. However, that deposit is only required after a home has agreed to our terms, read through our sales policy and done their research. By the time someone reaches that step, I want them to feel informed, prepared and truly ready for their bunny, for their sake and for the bunny’s as well. 🐰💖
Before a deposit is placed, if someone decides to stop responding after asking questions, I will simply take that as a sign that I did my job educating them on rabbits and that they realized a bunny was not the right fit for their home. I am completely okay with that. However, once a deposit has been placed, that bunny has been held aside specifically for that home. If communication stops at that point or someone chooses to walk away, the deposit is forfeited as outlined in our agreement.
So please, ask the questions. I will always rather spend time educating than see a bunny end up needing to be rehomed due to something that was regular bunny behavior. 💕
