Shannon's "Safe At Home" Petsitting I care for all breeds/ages/sizes of cats and dogs. I was a pet handler (volunteer) with KHS for several years.

I specialize in seniors, special needs/amputees, pets with seizures, medical issues and blind/deaf pets, administering oral and injectible meds.

Stella has been a client of mine for 3 years. I spend a lot of time with her. She's 16 years old and had become more weak these last few weeks. Stella's mom's plans to travel earlier this week were non-negotiable so she and I talked about what end of life may look like for Stella if it came to that while in my care. 😢

Fortunately, after me trying different things to get her to eat more, she started perking up and was actually running around the yard at one point!

When your pet isn’t feeling their best, being away from home can be especially stressful. You want to know they’re not only being fed and let outside—you want to know someone is paying attention.

Someone notices their energy level.
Someone notices their appetite.
Someone notices whether they seem better—or different.
Someone communicates those things with you.
And someone genuinely cares about how they’re doing.

That's what I do. My job isn't simply to complete a visit.

My job is to notice the little things, keep you informed, and hopefully allow you to enjoy your time away without constantly worrying about what’s happening at home.

Because peace of mind is part of the service.

A set of twins... Milo and Ollie. The best way I can tell them apart after 2 years of watching them on a regular basis is the freckles on Ollie's nose.

Ollie is slightly smaller and more rambunctious so I can tell them apart once the visit starts and they interact with each other, but other than that... 🤷

They're both so beautiful and social. They love playing with each other and teasing me.

Today was a very special day for me—I certified my very first facility pet team! 🎉🐾

Many people are familiar with therapy pets, but facility pets are a little different. A facility pet works alongside a professional in one specific setting as part of their daily job. This amazing dog, Duchess will be partnering with their owner/handler who is a counselor at a high school not far from here, where they'll help create a calm, welcoming environment for students who may need a little extra support.

Unlike therapy dogs that travel to different locations for visits, a facility pet becomes part of the school community and works exclusively with their handler.

It was an honor to evaluate and certify this wonderful team. I have no doubt they'll make a lasting difference in the lives of countless students for years to come.

Congratulations to Rachel and Duchess! Wishing you both an amazing journey together.

Saffron is such a beauty. I met her for the first time last November and have cared for her several times a week over the lunch hour since then while her mom and dad are at work.

Giving her and her three canine siblings a mid-day potty break makes life easier for their mom and dad who work long shifts and can't always get away from work to go home.

All 4 dogs race to the door when they hear Saffron barking at my arrival. She is one of the best welcoming committees I have! 😉

Dolley Madison cracks me up. She'll take two steps toward me and then want to roll over for me to pet her belly. It doesn't matter what we're doing, she just wants a belly rub... ALL.THE.TIME...

Pi is 19 years old and is such a sweet girl. She has been a client of mine for 2 years and I visit her fairly regularly.

She has lost a bit of weight so her momma encourages me to give her extra treats as needed just to get the calories in her.

Pi can hear me pull in the driveway and is always waiting for me by the door. I love the way she welcomes me in!

Stella and Lucy are quite the duo. Stella used to be my yoga buddy until Lucy decided she always needed to be right in the middle of it. And Lucy always has a ball in her mouth. Seriously, for her to get a drink of water, she will drop her ball in the bowl of water, get her drink and pick the ball back up and go run and play again.

I love the mannerisms of both of these sweet girls. I care for them on a very regular basis and I always have the time of my life.
