I tried to get a cute photo of Casper while being in his field. He thought I was saying hello so I got a sequence of his migration to me instead. The upside to having friendly horses is you don’t have to chase them and they’re always down for personal snuggle time. The downside is they’re always in your space and you can never get photos.

What a great crew we had sticking it out in the rain! Unfortunately I didn’t get pictures of everyone. Chloe got to ride Bubba for the first time. Ryleigh and Zoe got to learn passing going opposite directions at the walk and trot/jog. Haisley took her boy Dude out for a ride. Patricia had a great lesson using her seat to maneuver Cosmo and got him into the jog. Harlow has been enjoying staying dry in the new stall; Maddy came to lunge her so she could stretch her legs.

Zinnia got to see the flag last night during our cool out. She was very calm and collected even when she was unsure. I had a loose rein and kept my feet out of the stirrups. She eventually started following it when Dylan walked away. She then touched it and was okay so we called it good.

I love adding in new objects on occasion to help horses develop trust and see what they will do in unexpected situations.

Do you ever add in new or “scary” objects for your horses? What are the most unique items you’ve used?

7 year old, 15.1h and stocky quarter horse mare. Would do best in a hunt seat or trail home. Goes WTC and has been started over jumps. She will make a very cute hunter or equitation horse in a program. Goes out on the trails; she had no problem through water, under or over branches, and was able to lead or follow. I have not put beginners or kids on her but I feel she would do okay with a confident young rider. She is still shedding out her winter fuzz.

Owner ultimately wanted a draft and is looking for the best home for her.

Old man Max got a bath after I shed him out. He got a walk to eat some grass where he showed he was feeling himself. To get some energy out he trotted and cantered some poles. He doesn’t look too bad for being 27 with Cushings.

For anyone that doesn’t know, Max is my first horse.
