COOKIES!!!! 😂

Truthfully about half the dogs didn't care for these but as you can see, there were plenty of takers. The box of 36 was gone in about 10 minutes. These were left on the pile at our last supply drive. They must be the "healthy" cookies because lord knows we don't have a single dog here that will turn down a Beggin' Strip. Treat time is always a zoo. But hey, who doesn't love snack time. 😋

Last Monday I got the bill for all the cremations we had in August. As I mentioned previously, we had a tremendous amount of deaths and euthanasias in July and August between the hoarding case and 2 other colonies that I tackled. Cremation was a big expense both months.

People have asked me why I don't just throw them in the dumpster. These are beautiful souls and deserve respect even after death, especially considering many of them did not have very good lives here on earth. In addition, any sickness or disease is incinerated along with them so that it isn't passed to another animal that might come in contact with their body. So in my opinion it is money well spent, and necessary to be spent.

I took the week "off" so that I could catch up on things here at the rescue and not have to be driving all over. Silly me. After some serious rough housing Miss Roxy got her ear bitten by Ernie when play turned into someone taking themselves too seriously. 🙄 Kids.

So Roxy and I ventured to the clinic today and Dr. Dave did a great job restoring her ear to its natural beauty. Little Roxy has a lot of sass packed into her little 20 lb body so hopefully this is her first and last ear piercing.

After I got the sad puppy dog eyes we went to Sips and got her a pup cup and then a biscuit at Taco John's. We love to support animal friendly businesses!

And while I headed north to the vet, my partner graciously headed south to Cheyene to pick up our weekly dog food order since I obviously can't be in both places at once. We'll try this whole...staying home thing again tomorrow!

Sunday evening I returned the last of the TNR kitties from the week. I am taking a one to two week break to catch up on some other things before I resume. We are also getting into the season where services will slow down as I have to be mindful of vet bills to ensure we have enough money to carry us in Jan, Feb, Mar when donations tend to drop significantly.

These sweet sisters are part of a colony of 15-20 in Wheatland. I have done 6 so far. Stay tuned for more!

One of the number one questions I get asked is....do we have animals here for adoption. 🤔I find that to be a very silly question! Of course we do! DOZENS!!

Priscilla and her bunkmate José just to mention a few. Yes, Priscilla only has one eye and she is a bit of a "b" word and yes, José is cross-eyed but we don't mention those things in front of them. 🤫It might hurt their feelings.

So happy Saturday from a couple of our "special" residents.
