Since we have a lot of new followers, I thought I would share Blitzen’s story again.
When Blitzen was less than 2 months old, he was hit in the head with something, possibly a bat. His family let him seize for more than 24 hours before finally taking him to the vet. His head was so swollen that he could barely open his eyes.
When they were told he would need immediate cranial surgery, they surrendered him and left.
A wonderful Samaritan stepped in and paid for his surgery at Auburn University. After that, Blitzen was taken in by River Region Animal Rescue, which is where he was when we adopted him.
He was surrendered in December, which is how he got the name Blitzen. He stayed with the rescue for almost a year and a half before we finally found him.
Blitzen is still on daily seizure medication, but I am so happy to report that he has not had a seizure in several years!
So many people were part of Blitzen’s surgery, healing, and recovery. And if you’ve ever met him, then you already know… to know Blitzen is to love him.
I created this page as a celebration of his life and as a reminder of what love, rescue, fostering, and adoption can do.
Please consider fostering or adopting. You never know whose life you might completely change. 🐾❤️
