🕊 Spot the Difference: Racing Pigeon vs. Feral Pigeon
These two young pigeons may look similar at first glance, especially with their matching check feather patterns and injured right legs, but they come from very different backgrounds.
The pigeon on the left (Butch) is a domestic racing/homing pigeon. Notice the sleeker head shape, lighter-colored eyes, and the visible layer of skin around the eyes called cere development, which is commonly seen in bred domestic pigeons.
The pigeon on the right (Fairry) is a feral (street) pigeon. Feral pigeons tend to have rounder heads, vibrant orange eyes, and a more compact appearance overall.
While their origins may differ, both deserve the same compassion, safety, and care when injured or in need.
