🙏🏻WE HAVE VACCINE AVAILABLE FOR THE RECENT EHV-1 OUTBREAK!!!🙏🏻

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this dangerous viral strain.

💉Although vaccination doesn’t prevent infection, it does reduce the severity and spread of the virus.💉

We want to keep our clients and the local horse community informed about the recent Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) outbreak.
EHV-1 is a contagious virus that can spread quickly through direct horse-to-horse contact, shared equipment, or even on clothing and hands.

🚩 What to Watch For:
• Fever (≥ 101.5 F)
• Nasal discharge
• Cough
• Difficulty urinating
• Hind-end weakness or incoordination
• Lethargy or decreased appetite

⚠️ What You Should Do Now:
• Isolate any horse showing symptoms immediately
• Take temperatures twice daily
• Avoid hauling or attending events until the outbreak is contained over the next few weeks
• Do NOT share tack, buckets, halters, or grooming tools
• Wash hands and disinfect equipment regularly

💉 Prevention Matters
Current vaccines do not protect against the neurologic form of EHV-1, but they do help reduce viral shedding and overall risk. If your horse is due for vaccination or you’re unsure of their status, give us a call.

Dr. Smith did it again! This time, high school students at Connally got to learn about small animal ultrasounding. They were able to scan a pregnant border collie. They counted puppies and found heart beats. It's always good to give back and see their excitement!!!
