We are super excited to welcome a new trainer, Tammy, to the Vacay9 family that blends in well with our goal of Making Time with Dogs Prime!
Tammy is a dedicated dog trainer with a passion for helping dogs and the people who love them build stronger, healthier relationships. Her experience comes from years of hands-on work with dogs of all backgrounds, personalities, and behavioral challenges. Much of Tammy’s early experience was working with shelter and rescue dogs, including dogs struggling with fear, anxiety, reactivity, resource guarding, and aggression. She worked with dogs to improve their confidence, manners, communication, and ability to successfully transition into adoptive homes. Helping dogs overcome behavioral obstacles and giving them a better chance at finding the right forever home became a foundation of her training philosophy Tammy also has extensive experience living and working with a multi-dog household, giving her firsthand knowledge of pack dynamics, canine communication, household management, introductions, impulse control, and helping multiple dogs learn to coexist successfully. She understands that every dog is an individual and that effective training must be tailored to the dog, the family, and the environment.
Her work extends beyond companion-dog training. Tammy is actively involved in Canine Search and Rescue, where she works alongside her canine partner, Ace. Training and working in this field has strengthened her understanding of canine motivation, scent work, problem-solving, focus, environmental challenges, and the unique partnership between handler and working dog. Tammy’s approach is centered on communication, confidence, structure, relationship, and understanding why a dog behaves the way it does. Her goal is not simply to teach commands, but to help dogs and their handlers develop the skills and understanding needed for lasting success.
Whether working with a newly adopted rescue dog, a family struggling with behavior issues, a multi-dog household, or a canine preparing for specialized work, Tammy believes that every dog deserves the opportunity to be understood, supported, and successful.
