✨ Update on Onyx 🖤 ✨

Onyx is now in a foster home and doing AMAZING!

She’s been settling in beautifully — she’s currently coexisting well with cats 🐱 and has been so loving and gentle with the children in the home 💕

Her foster says she’s a happy, playful girl who just wants attention, love, and a family to call her own. She’s still got that fun puppy energy, but she’s adjusting well and showing how sweet she truly is.

Onyx is an 11-month-old lab mix with the sweetest face and BIG puppy energy 🐾

📅 DOB: 4/17/25
🐾 Lab mix - dad is full chocolate lab

Onyx is a loving, playful girl who just needs someone willing to give her the time and consistency she deserves. She enjoys playing, running, and being active, and like most puppies her age, she’s still learning her manners (jumping, zoomies, etc.).

She is currently in a home with children ranging from toddlers to teenagers and has done well with them. She does well with other dogs, but will chase cats.

The Best fit for Onyx:
✔️ Active home
✔️ Someone willing to continue training
✔️ A family ready for a fun, energetic pup

This is a tough decision for her family, but it’s about giving her the life she deserves.

Meet the newest member of the chaos crew… Mr. Krabs 🦞 This little guy came in with a minnow shipment at Petco and ended up on the “absolutely cannot stay here” list.

Because he’s a wild-type crawfish, they’re not allowed to sell or release him due to the risk of harming local ecosystems… which usually means they get euthanized 🥲

So of course I said nope, and brought him home instead.

He’s now living his best life in his own tank—zero survival stress, plenty of snacks, and full VIP treatment 💅

Just a little reminder:
Even though they’re cute, wild aquatic species should never be released into non-native environments. Situations like this happen more often than people realize.

It’s me—your local lizard lady 🦎😂

My name is Marlana, and I’m the heart behind Scales & Tails Rescue NC. What started as a love for reptiles and fish (and way too many tanks 😅) has turned into a passion for helping animals that need a second chance.

I’ve been taking in, caring for, and helping rehome reptiles and aquatic pets behind the scenes—and now I’m making it official.

This rescue is dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming reptiles, fish, and other exotic pets, while also helping educate owners so these animals can truly thrive.
