What do you do when your horse stops sweating? 💦🐴

A non-sweating horse can become a serious concern, particularly during hot and humid weather when sweating is essential for regulating body temperature.

From keeping your horse clipped and providing plenty of airflow to cooling baths and other supportive options, there are several ways to help manage horses struggling to sweat effectively.

If you notice a decrease or change in your horse’s normal sweating patterns, be sure to discuss it with your veterinarian to develop a management plan that works for your horse.

🐴 Looking for answers? A gastroscopy might be the next step.

Some horses show subtle signs that something isn't quite right. Poor performance, weight loss, changes in behaviour, girthiness, poor appetite, or recurrent mild colic can all be indicators of gastric ulcers or other stomach issues.

Here we are teaming up with Paddock Equine's Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Lisa Fultz, to find some answers. Working together allows us to investigate what's happening inside the stomach and develop the best treatment plan for this horse.

A gastroscopy is the gold standard for diagnosing gastric ulcers, helping ensure your horse receives the right care based on an accurate diagnosis.

If you think your horse may be showing signs of gastric ulcers, speak to your veterinarian about whether a gastroscopy is the right next step.

A complete physical exam is one of the most valuable tools for keeping your horse healthy. From listening to the heart and lungs to evaluating body condition, movement, and overall wellness, every step helps your veterinarian establish a baseline, detect subtle changes early, and make informed recommendations for your horse's care.

Routine exams aren't just about finding problems—they're about preventing them.
